Every time someone claims that "most people quit because of ______," it is purely speculation. People quit for various reasons; some probably quit because of 'Asshattery,' although, how many is also speculation. Personally, I don't care about asshats, because I shoot back, and, frankly, it's a video game. Others are concerned about it.

One thing is certain: neither side will ever see the other perspective. I just hope there is a heavy population density on both server types in order to appease each perspective.

Umm? You said, "100's and 100's used to play the game, not all of them were happy to get shot. In fact the majority were not."

Why else would you say that, other then to insinuate, based on the rest of your argument, that they left because they were 'griefed' out?

I was stating a fact. Nothing more.
It doesn't really matter how clearly I state something as you are simply unwilling to view anything from anyone else's pov than your own.
Jumpgate still is not a war game btw, no matter how many times you say so.

Al

I would seem to me that ND thought it was a bad thing, as they pulled JumpGate development staff to work on other projects, presumably because Jumpgate wasn't making enough money to support a development staff bigger than what it got.

So, while you think that safezones will ruin what Jumpgate used to be, you should wake up long enough to realize that's exactly what ND wants.

Jumpgate(TM) . . . welcome to your next life . . . There's nothing you can't do

Scroll down about 3/4 of the way to the bottom and explain to me why all the player factions are listed as being at war with all the other player factions then.

People don't play Jumpgate because they like the economy. People don't play Jumpgate because they like shooting at computer generated inter-gallactic seafood. Hell, when you get right down to it, people just plain don't play Jumpgate. In a market as large as the entire MMO player base, 100 active accounts doesn't even register as a pebble being tossed into the ocean. Even at its peak, Jumpgate was little more than a ripple.

You've been doing this a lot lately, and it's not very productive.

Here's an idea. Why don't you back up what you say for once, instead of saying "I'd explain myself, but why bother." every time someone asks for clarification.

Constantly saying things without any basis or explanation might seem like a good strategy to you, but it's rather transparent to me.

I'm with you man. It was the adrenalin rush that got me addicted.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

Here is an angle to consider when it comes to asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution.

If it were your money being invested in Jumpgate Evolution. Would you create the game in the image of Jumpgate Classic's open combat model?

It's worth saying, though, that this "positive" effect, if it exists, is only going to apply to other PvPers.

I can't think of a single reason why a carebear/disinterested in PvP person would be better off because of TheRapists or anyone else along those lines. Unless they actually like getting killed. Like Ambro.

Contrary to what my stats would suggest I never liked getting killed -- but I LOVED the adrenaline rush of not knowing what danger I might run into in the next sector.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

I do miss those adrenaline rushes. First C6 encounter, First OOL encounter, early PvP fights. Then I got a FF2 and became an emotionless psychopath like all other FF2 owners!

That said they made me a terrible pilot.
