Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution
Just because you're a pvper doesn't mean you're an asshat. I find it hard to believe any of us have 'done more for Jumpgate' than pay our subscriptions. I'm sure as shit running people out of the game isn't doing anything 'for' the game.
I don't have a sudden grudge Liet, I've always hated bullies. I do tolerate the articulate ones better than the ignorant ones though ![]() |

I just don't want to accept that they would be so foolhardy to completely remove the ability to put someone in their place. Invulnerability in a safe zone would be the most extreme form of this. Mouthy little kids being cheeky to the big boys(in an IC sense) deserve a slap imo. My interpretation from their AI comments in general has lead me to "assume" safe zones would have drones jumping on you left right and center, with their intensity increasing in sectors closer to the safe zone core. Kinda like the way drones appear in station sectors now once a kill has been made, only they would appear when a ship deemed to be non PvP is attacked. Assumption is the mother of all fookups though. I don't assume I would want any sort of added protection, be it AI or invulnerability but I like to sit on the fence. Keeps my mind open. Regards Al |

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution
I think the big source of confusion here is the misinterpretation of "asshattery" vs. "forced RP". Asshattery is, IMO, something like PoDing someone and sending them on a pod ride after they pay you, or stripping faction stations. Forced RP is stuff like the Aman FF blockade, or what Liet did with OSP and the Injustice FM when he came back.
The problem isn't really with the individual players being bullies as much as it is with the game not providing enough content to keep us entertained. If Jumpgate Evolution can provide something to do for every play style, all the time, then the abundance of "asshats" will deminish accordingly. |

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution
Correction Al, the drone launches as soon as a temp bounty is taken, aka after the first shot on a civ target. Drones like this in every sector is going to suck, no more "playing" with people.

I only tend to shoot MT's currently btw. If I had a reason to shoot a civ the current threat wouldn't deter me too much. |

If they can find you anyway, as long as you have bty, that would be bad. Instead of using radarrange and active patrols, that actually have to patrol to keep space safe.. Also, another thing will be how hard is it going to be to kill them(NPC police) and will they have 20 hitmans mounted that can kill u instantly. Noone can be protected from asshatts with 100% invulnerability, witch I am against. So implementing that will just do harm to other things.. |

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution
Next time I start a thread I am going to include the word "asshat" in the title somewhere, guarantees 16 pages of response.
![]() Before I make a point, I am and have always been a "carebear" (this may change for the new game however). And I am using the carebear word in the sense of mining/trading types not meaning "boo hoo I got killed in unreg" types. Words have yet to be invented for them. But as Liet said, I always knew I could be ripped at any time and for the most part thrived on it. Something else, I know most of you all by either reputation or by playing the game with you, and I consider no one here a asshat. But some people (maybe a lot) will consider that. Therein lies the problem, and although I was totally against it at first I now consider the "Wild west shard" versus the "Bunny soft and pink shard" a great way of countering that problem. In my mind they are totally separate games now. On the WWS there will be many carebears as I was, and it will need them if anything more than ever. If I'm mining commods to make vital equip and I'm ripped by an asshat I'm sure the PvP people who need the equip will take exception to that. As long as the carebears are wanted and needed on a truly no rules server I'm sure they will survive, perhaps even flourish? It's kinda like I heard Jump describing MACK back in the day, well my squad was much like that on EU and we did pretty well. ![]() Smeg P.S. To any ND employee, please re-read the line "As long as the carebears are wanted and needed". Again and again if need be ![]() P.P.S. I'm not about to go into the play style of the "Bunny soft and pink" shard as I wouldn't play on that even if threatened with a large pole inserting somewhere uncomfortable! |

I'm talking about the way classic works. In a station sector if you fire one shot at a civ, you get a temp bounty and the little drones launches immediately. |

Well said, and refreshing to hear a valid viewpoint. I would not consider the miner and traders "carebears".. they are what they exactly are, non-combatant merchants. Carebearism is a state of mind and a gameplay style versus a class or a character. I just don't want the WWS to be infested with pockets of places where righteous retribution gets turned off. |
