Using civving rotations is a tacky, cheap way to avoid the issue, and it doesn't address the core problem: civving is overly penalized. It's the same as working off a bounty by killing flux or being /vouched for, in my book.

I'd like to see a system that encourages players to be men about their actions. Either you civ the guy or you don't, but I don't want to see cheap workarounds by either the civs or the civvers.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

I'm not saying I'm a big fan of the current system, but MT being able to civ on occasion allows people to deal with spies, or station strippers, or whathaveyou without subjecting themselves to the new overly harsh bounty stuff.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

How does it allow anyone to play a PoD pirate, or a character that ignores tags and kills based on politics?

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

Left to me, no pilot could civ-rip whoever he pleases based on forum postings, rumoured TS comments, or a even musical choice made on JPR. All things would be driven by game design, in reg space at least.

In game actions should have repercussions, yes, that is player choice. If someone chooses to beacon flip, go MT, rat or nuke Quant core. I don't believe forum opinions should ever spill over into the game or you begin to dictate WHO can/will post on the forums.

Have you ever wondered why the most likely person to post on a Jumpgate forum is someone of the pvp ilk?

Do haulers, miners and the like have no opinions? Or have they learned that if they enjoy an aspect of the game it is best to be invisible and keep your head down. Nice community spirit that. Peachy.

LOL, this forum is full of "haulers, miners and the like." In fact, it took years to get PVP folks to seriously post here.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

Like I said, left to me...

You see, its not a civ-chip I would want to install in Jumpgate Evolution, its a regulated space pvp-chip.

If someone says something you don't like, tough, just /ignore them if needs be. If someone does something that the mechanics dictate will leave them open to be attacked... hell... fire at will. Otherwise, bide your time and catch them in unreg.

Re: Asshattery in Jumpgate Evolution

rarely do people get civripped for OOC forum comments.

For example, me and Wild_Bill have had some heated debates here, but i'd never civrip him unless he did something IC to me. Infact, as far as 'Tritian' the character is concerned, WB is a loyal Octavian and Tritian would die protecting him.

I'm not going to say it NEVER happened, or that I wouldn't enjoy killing you Vorlon31 because I sure would *LOVE* to. =) But unless you do something IC to me or something horribly OOC like say you're going to kill me and rape my wife (like SLAPMAN did) then I dont think you're in any trouble.

Now, I might find you in space and pirate you, or someone might pay me IC to kill you. But that's business.

In this thread, what is the pve/pvp opinion ratio? 19 pages, x many posters and what 3/4 non pvp people and of them, how many buck the trend?

i certainly don't go around killing people indiscriminately. though if you keep painting with that very broad brush, i might have to.
