Re: Can you hit the vein?

Unless I'm wrong, the roids arent moving, at least not yet...but there may be a few later..no one quite knows for sure yet. So no, I dont think they will be rolling or anything like that, just have to move in and get an aim on the seam you want, there may be more than one in a rock??? But we'll have to wait and see. Remember the little vid from Jumpgate, it had two miners working a roid and one said," theres a big vien off to the side" or something like that, and the little guy moved for a better angle.

Re: Can you hit the vein?

This is excellent news. As long as there is no "auto-target" for the veins and is all player skill driven, we wont see any macro miners any time soon. Those of you who played EvE know what I mean...

Re: Can you hit the vein?

I saw this as fantastic news. At last mining will be more interesting.

But can you imagine the whine fest amongst the afk players on the Jumpgate Evolution forums when they realise they actually have to do something?

Re: Can you hit the vein?

This is nice. Then the last thing to make interesting aka not being able to do while afk, is trading goods.

Idk, maybe they actually have, by putting more/bigger roids in the game and in your way.. Hmm and maybe traffic, other ships trading, traveling, doing missions, whatever..

Hey i just got an idea; What if you had a sort of 'highway', a bit like those in freelancer, but more like two points in space that had an area in between where you could accelerate your vehicle faster and to higher speeds..
It could look a bit like a long squared or circular nebula..
I don't know if empire space is equally safe everywhere, but they could mostly be in empire space and if there should be one outside, it could prove a good place to pirate people(with mines or whatever)

This would be just a little deviance from the usual 'point ship to next portal and accelerate' and you could plan your traveling more, if some systems didn't have them.

They could also be through big asteroids an' such, you know some nice scenery...

HEY! And the accelegates(woo! cool name, huh ) would be all ways, meaning that it wouldn't matter which way you travel through(in theory it could be across the road, so to speak), so you had to be careful not to smash into others.

Re: Can you hit the vein?

How about a 3D roid scanner as an add-on to the HUD.
