Cargo Ship observations
So far Im noticing 2 hauler ship types. The usual tow looks kinda the same but perhaps with subtle differences (that I can appreciate at least) aside from tonal/color. But you can spot in the teaser an even bigger cargo hauler, with containers at the sides.
If you go to the screenshots section there's a more detailed pic of the 'tow' itself, you can spot lots of lights and I would guess at least 4 engines. The towing module looks high, you can spot engines and lights on the upper side but you can also spot lights on the down side. ![]() BTW, if you really look at them, containers are the same as for the other cargo ships, this one moves 2 but the others we've seen move only 1 (unless we're seing 2 cargo containers inline...). Re: Cargo Ship observations
Looks like two cargo ships flying to a gate to me.

Re: Cargo Ship observations
No no no, this is the ship that appears in the teaser, I'd dare to say that is a pic off the same teaser, as in the teaser this ship is sideways aproaching the station.... look at the gallery, you can see its the docking bay of the station, its the same shot.
Edit: Hummm now that you mention, there are 2 ships... in the teaser you see a small ship flying very close to the cargo ship, so the thing that looks like 4 engines is actually that ship... but the cargo hauler does have 2 containers. Edit2: Well, I was right, is the tug's and not the other ship that was close. You can notice now (check in the gallery btw) the pic compared to the video, the other ship doesnt appear on the pic at all. Gallery - Ships ELP |

Re: Cargo Ship observations
With that size, I don't think that one lonely pilot can stop that ship.
Those pictures begs a question: are those cargo pods detachable? From the video looks like "the freighter" is kinda like old tow: holding two big cargo containers. |

Re: Cargo Ship observations
So far, every ship shown is (1) a single-pilot vessel and (2) with one exception, usable by both players and AI. We've got one ship model so far that's presently AI-only, but even the way Jumpgate Classic was built, that too can be changed.
The big ship ELPIRATA is indicating is the Jumpgate Evolution replacement for the Freighter, and it is indeed a dual-container cargo vessel. They're one of my favorite ships in the game right now, but that's probably due to my roots as a merchant pilot. We are talking about multiple-container vessels, because the tech to do that is now trivial (easy to scale up once you have duals). We don't know yet whether they will be worth implementing for release, or will be saved as a later feature. It is possible that quad and hex or other multiple container ships will be added either for AI only (worst-case), or if and when we are able to implement multiplayer ships. And yes, Grim, we'd pretty much have to include those. |

Re: Cargo Ship observations
Oh, and Jump, your comment made me look again. In the pics ELP has put in this thread, there are no gates (except in the logo thingy). Those things the ships are flying toward are prototype replacements of the core player-owned station object.
