The video was on Jumpgate Classic and I think only demonstrated pitch and yaw. In the TrackIR site there's a demo of a heli in which the pilot even raises his head as in trying to see in front/down and you can also tilt your head.
Still, 6degs... Id wonder which are all those. Far as I remember, Descent was the first game ever to support 6 degrees of freedom, but it wasnt related to views, instead was the flight engine (its also the only game I remember 'feeling' vertigo while looking down an edge). ELP |

I have used the TrackIR in a Nascar game with 6 way tracking and its pretty freaking cool. you can look down at the dash and move towards the screen and you will zoom in on one of the gauges. You can look towards the passenger side and get closer to the window to see better.
Jumpgate Classic is only left right, up and down. And so far I've been hating the deadzone.... (1000 ingame and "deadzone" in the utility configuration), its just too sensitive which causes the HUD to go away while you are trying to do something like PvP |

The primary purpose of adding TrackIR support to Jumpgate Classic was to see what the effort would be in putting the technology into Jumpgate Evolution. We decided to include it in the last Jumpgate Classic patch because we wanted to see what people thought, and to gauge the interest in the technology. While the actual implementation of TrackIR in Jumpgate Evolution is still up in the air, we are looking at a variety of options at this point. What I can say is that the current implementation does get rid of the whole deadzone issue by keeping the HUD displayed while looking around. I personally have flow and participated in a battle while using the TrackIR setup.

sry we made u repeat urself ^_^. sooooo...how about a Jumpgate Evolution TrackIr video? lol jk.
i think it would e great for combat by helping you keep an eye on the enemy when he/she is not right in front of you. also frees up my HAT buttons on my joystick for more usefull things like ship controls, radar, whatever i can come up with =) |
