They'd probably start updating Jumpgate Classic and turn that into a completely different game, again. |

Then for the next 2.5 years small bug changes, tweaks and nerfs, a few more new things, nothing spectacular. Then finally in August 2006 MT patch is implemented (partially). Over the next couple months a few small bug fixes. And here was are now an entire year later without as much as a bug fix, or un-nerf, or completed Tag system. THIS is why we are acting the way we are. Jumpgate Classic needs as much work as Jumpgate Evolution does, and we are currently paying to play it! Quote:

I don't get this. You are saying the Jumpgate Evolution will be so carebear that people will flock to a 7 year old game that hasn't been updated once in the last year and a half? To me this make zero sense. Now, all that said, Isty.....I want you to know I respect you, that I am great full to NetDevil for creating Jumpgate Classic in the first place, and all I really want is to have an updated version of what Jumpgate Classic was in its hayday. Lots of people, lots of options, lots of danger, lots of dieing, lots of killing, lots of excitement. What I don't want is anything remotely like WoW. There is a reason I say I hate WoW every time someone mentions it, and bringing those aspects into Jumpgate in the hopes of getting more subscribers disgusts me. //please don't be mad at me for being honest with you. And PLEASE don't stop talking to us because you think we might tear into your posts....we are simply trying to show you how bad we want this game to be perfect, and some of the released information lately has got us tearing our hair out. |

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG
I get the impression that, if you guys want to shoot each other, go into the other room.
This whole team had me worried from the very begining, none have played Jumpgate Classic outside of Isty. The fact that they pulled Isty from our game says it all, especaly in the middle of completing a patch that could enhance the existing game. They have played us like a fiddle, used our cash to kill us. The numbers of players that have resubed just to get on the short list for beta says alot about Jumpgate Classic. I dont know how easy it is to reinstate any of the past parts of the game. But i would be real satisfied with everytning right before the mining patch. That patch realy put a grind factor in the game. And the HG CIV tags were it. We cant help asking for changes. We realy want to see jumpgate work, and have a viable game to play. Most of us wont play a pve game, i think the developers know that, and realy dont care. The fact is Jumpgate Evolution is not being made for us, its being made for others. We can always play Jumpgate Classic so they think pvp is already done. I wouldent be supprised if they upgraded Jumpgate Classic graphics, and made it a instance. O well, done with my whining.. I will always consider Isty one of us, and never dis him. Hail Isty. |

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG
I can understand a lot of people concerns regarding this particular issue...
I watched another episode of The evolution of the Video Games or what ever the hell it was called... anyway, it discussed a turning point in teh evolution of video game developement, basically created by a non game programmer, but from someone that was more into story writing and fantasy than coming up with ideas on what could be the next evolutionary wiz-bang game. Im talking about Ninendo and Mario. Some of the most popular games were games surrounding some main plot, a character trying to save a person or a planet. I played the Wing Commander series and most of the games were centered around 1 particular pilot batteling the Kilarathi (sp). It was a plot players could easily identify with and enjoy. They knew what there role in the game was and what they had to do. Im not sure what direction this game should take as far as pirating goes and PvP. I do know that back in teh Heyday of Jumpgate Classic, PvP was a driving factor in the excitement of playing in the first place. For Example, you had squads devoted to strict PvP. You had squads devoted to the defense of faction interests. You had squads devoted to the transport of goods and services to support PvP and defense of factions. Im not a strict PvPer. I was and will always be if allowed a proud member of -=MACK=- A trucking squad dedicated to the hauling of equipment, goods and commodities for the better good of all factions and squads. It didnt matter who, what, when why where or how. If it needed to be hauled, we hauled it. I cant count the times -=MACK=- flew into Wake Staion, in the midst of a massive battle, 100+ strong, hauiling FF and Morning starts ect... to support the battle. Nobody shot at us. Eveyone was always glad to see us delivering supplies to help keep the fight going... it was good times... I will say that a lot fo the members that joined us, did so because of the protection from the PvP'er they feared. If someone messed with 1 of our members, they messed with all of us. And there were those of us in the squad that did not hesitate to go HG and take care of our own. Being a non PvP player, I personally think it would be a shame to cast aside the PvP aspect of Jumpgate Evolution. Fighting and balsting and wars shooting at each other is just a way for people who play games to blow off some steam. I think in a Universe that is infinite, theres room enough for both types of players... After all, This particular univers is being written as we speak. I think everyones voice and opinion on this matter is being heard and listened to. ( I hope), by Netdevil I wont deny that games like WoW and Eve are popular and have their place. I found them boring and cold. I have made more friends in Jumpgate Classic and the type of game it was and still is, than any other game I have ever played. That in itself says and means something to me. I would like to believe that the core elements that made Jumpgate Classic what it was back in teh day, will make Jumpgate Evolution a fantastic game of tomorrow. Ok I need another beer now! ![]() |

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG
Guys... you have to remember that Istvan is not in charge. If he had 4 brains and 16 hands and multple computers and of course the aval and authorization of Scorch... he most probably would be doing that already, but he's just an employee, one we've all admired for quite some time.
I dont like much of what I hear about Jumpgate Evolution, still I'll give it a try but I have this feeling that I may end up back in Jumpgate Classic.... and if a graphics overhaul also hits it... I dont know if It'll have something to envy Jumpgate Evolution or not. Thing is we're worrying beforehand. Beta is not here yet and as I said on the other thread... ND already knows how bad we feel about this, they have to read about it everytime they come and troll like the rest of us. As much as I agree with the sentiment, I'll give the benefit of the doubt, see what happens and take action afterward. ELP |

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG
Elp, all due respect, but there is no such thing as action without reaction. When someone tells you the game you have been waiting for is not going to be that game then you are going to react. That's ok, that's what it's all about. It's the whole throw the tea in the harbor thing.
Nobody has ever accomplished a goal by sitting back and waiting. |
