I really don't understand you trit, There giving you what a pvp "wild west" play ground where you will have to answer to the players justice isn't that enough? Isn't that what you have been asking for?

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

i said i will give it a try. I just have my doubts w/ splitting the servers into two camps. I think it'd be better to fix the problem in a way where we keep everyone and their various play-styles together.

I fear that by the time we get to beta and see if splitting the servers is working badly, it will be too late. Unfortunately, it looks like they wont open beta until a couple of months before retail, when we really can't give any feedback on anything beyond bug fixes. =(

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

I see everyone is bypassing my point of having multiple thousands of players online on average for each server (I hope!).

Out of curiosity, does anyone have stats as to what online numbers were for AA, peak and average?

The numbers i see floating around on shard size is 2500. And yes, i for one worry about large numbers, will i ever see the next gate, or will someones butt be in my view all the time.

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

My aim is to sign up for the pve server as opposed to a pvp one.

Why? because I am a cb? No, but because over the years playing Jumpgate the biggest frustrations I have experienced in game is dealing with the cruddy mess brought about when some random pvp enthusiast cant find other enthusiasts to fly against at some particular time in space and starts shooting civs on what can only be described as the weakest of excuses. I loath dealing with that rubbish each and every time it pops up.

And so if Jumpgate Evolution DOES provide a server where random pvp exists in unreg and reg pvp is dealt with by specific missions, duel requests and such consensual methods I am so going to be there.

edit: I would like there to be some squad warfare possibilities on a Jumpgate Evolution PVE server too. In truth I would truly love to get into some real fun squad warfare, but I feel I cant do that in Jumpgate Classic because of the generalised openness of the MT tags and the lack of any way of creating and enforcing agreeable goals between two squads that could be set in stone and enforced by mechanics to determine a 'winner'.

enjoy your self with the 10 % of the original Jumpgate players. 90% are either going to not play at all or choose the most hardcore server..

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

Im still at a loss to why we cant have what we have now, every one on the same server ( or 2 or 3 ) but with a HG system in place or something along that lines.

I really don’t want to be on a server with no PVP at all sod that just how boring would that be. Unreg is a free for all Reg space should be safe but not to the extreme of no PVP what’s so ever.

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

Well, is perhaps an easy solution to the ongoing problem of PvE that dont want to be affected by PvPer while still be in the same world. If we're in separate worlds, we dont affect each other.

Ocasional PvP in this case (with all PvPers on the other server) will be scarce, which perhaps is precisely what you want V31... or perhaps you want to finally do that RP of yours without any other squad getting in the middle because your story RP clashed with theirs.

I dont think, though, that the PvE server will fail, IMO it will be just boring. But those that love doing stuff unmolested will be happy there. I just hope that conflux there get to be really good, otherwise making equipment/producing will be boring too, as you wont have clientele for your products, and the AI doing battle to use stocks is a lame way to mimic what the PvP server will have, but if it suits you...

I dont think, though, that you wont get rid of the PvPers, you can bet your coffee that they will be there in some form in unreg and that most probably they will be a bigger pain than before.

Actually, I don't think pvp will be scarce on a pve server, quite the opposite. It just wont be like it is in Jumpgate Classic.

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

From what I've read there will be plenty of opportunities for PvP on a PvE server. The only difference, it seems to me, will be a few safe zones where PvP will not be possible.

Re: Chat Log from MMORPG

The PvE server might have a fair amount of PvP if sufficient emphasis is placed on unreg space. However, without the ability to take the fight to peoples home factions, what will be the point?

The PvE server will have virtually zero escorting, no reason for a bounty system, no faction station blockades or pirates in regulated space, and probably no way to flip another factions beacons. Sounds pretty blah to me.

I'm sure it sounds great to Vorlon31. Most of the issues he got into w/ pvp'ers was because of his big mouth. I'm sure he will be very happy on the PvE server where he can loudly voice his opinions with his usual 'tact', while being completely safe in Regulated space.
