Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
From An Inside Look at Jumpgate Evolution | TenTonHammer
Quote:
I do think pure roids should be as above, but I concerned Jumpgate Evolution will be losing something if they take away regular mining to make it all spawnable. |

Re: Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
But think of this from the other side. Once you have done it all, there is really nothing else.
Won't you feel excited if you find a big field of good roids that nobody knows about? Spying and exploring could become profitable. ![]() |

Anthing to make mining more than the borefest it is at the moment gets my vote.

Re: Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
Can you guys be more specific? GrimGriz had two concepts in his first thread and I can't tell which you guys liked.
Personally, I wouldn't mind a mix of both concepts. The whole "one pure roid per sector" thing doesn't really make too much sense, realistically. Having spawning roids of the "higher" roids (any above common) in a little asteroid field could be neat. GG could still map his field out , but there would always be some kind of pures/"higher" roids spawning in there for him to discover. Granted, mapping common fields would not be a very worthwhile prospect, so make three dimensional zones where certain types of roids spawn. "The immediate area around 34,24,-17 always spawns a nice Vanadium roid every 10 minutes but it could be in a (smaller than pure's now) 3k-5k sphere." Another thing that doesn't make much sense is a clump of asteroids sitting in the middle of nowhere. I think it would be neat if we had moving asteroids. I'm sure this next part is a pipe dream, but you could RP the collisions of larger common roids as how pures are generated. "Precious metals inside common roids" kinda thing. Mining would become much more dangerous and miners would have to develop their radar reading skills, as well as zooming in/out to check for pirates/flux. What do you think? |

Re: Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
About the same as finding a good pure now. I'm not saying it shouldn't be this way, but I'm hoping it's just pures, and they will still have semis and rad and ice and stuff that don't disappear and can be mapped fields.

GG, for what it's worth, I truly don't seek out to disagree with you LOL, it just seems we approach things pretty consistently from different angles.
I originally wrote a reply to this thread but instead created a new thread in the suggestions forum with my thoughts. http://joystickrequired.com/forums/f...-new-post.html Hopefully we can have a beer someday at Evenings End and marvel at the things ND gleaned from these threads. |

Re: Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
I'm just not a big fan of spawning. It severely breaks continuity. It's like, if I happened to be where the roid spawns after you pop the one you're mining...why wasn't it there before you popped that one? Magically appearing roids don't make sense. Technically, neither do magically refilling roids, but they seem more viable than magically appearing ones.

Re: Concerns about Jumpgate Evolution mining
It sounds daft but I'm really positive on reading that description of mining. In addition, I hope that you can use your radar to help find the roids too as well as your eyes, target under reticule locking on and relaying roid content and such like. (kind of like how I had hoped the deep radar was going to work in Jumpgate Classic)
