Constructive feedback......

Instead of constantly complaining, we can toss out ideas. So let's turn our anger and dissatisfaction into something more positive. We all know we will not get the same game mechanics as Jumpgate Classic and we will have to make some trade-offs in order to get the game more popular.

Safe zones:

Total prohibition of PvP: no, bad idea.

Limitation on the extent of possible PvP that might be possible in "safe zones" - it give players an option how far they want go. It is up to him or her to decide. Of course some sectors as core stations should come with greater penalties or risks.

Re: Constructive feedback......

The fix is simple.

Change "Safe Zones" into "Relatively Safe Zones" in the feature listing. Done.

If they're going to do safe zones, I think they should do it like WoW does on the non-pvp servers. If you go into enemy territory you can't attack anyone unless they attack you first, but if they do they become pvp flagged and you can rip them.

Re: Constructive feedback......

My current thinking is ND is floating trial balloons.

No Crashing

You should die if you hit a roid at 800 m/s. In Jumpgate Classic, you die hitting a roid at ~ 30 m/s. In Jumpgate Evolution, shields and armor should provide better protection. Lets say surviving a 200 m/s roid hit with shield and armor damage.

I have crashed during dock many times at ~ 101 m/s. This should be soften somewhat in Jumpgate Evolution. Again you should die trying to dock at 800 m/s. In RL, US Navy pilots are graded on their carrier landings.

No PVP in Regulated
I think the question now is what mechanisms prevent you from PVPing in Regulated Space.

My take is that in Regulated: MT tags can PVP , Players can duel, and a Civ Rip causes a bounty and causes an AI police response. AI police should patrol not spawn on top you.

Noobs are a special case. In Regulated, your weapons should be hard locked when targeted on a noob ship. Noob-killing hurts the game universe and NetDevil's business.

Shards
Due to ping issues there should be at least a US, EU, and Asia server. There are also technical reasons for limiting the number of players in a shard. That said, PVE shards and PVP shards is a bad idea. For an account, one avatar per shard would be a good idea.

Re: Constructive feedback......

Id think it would be more helpful to have a voice saying calmly:

"You're in a collision course pilot" or something worse that would make a mark on a new pilot's mark. If people dont die... people wont care that much on how they aproach the docking tube or the order (if any) people use to dock, to avoid the accidents that heppen when multiple pilots try to dock (like during a WOW event).

Another thing I was thinking about, that could leave a 'good' mark on being careful is the use of a Control Tower sort of thing. It would be nice if pilots were able to select from wireless channels and listen to the Station Sector Control Tower, giving indications on how to proceed when aproaching the station. It would be a very inmersive effect, much like those days when we were invited to join New Dawns TS (during a sentient attack) and there was this New Dawn guy who was saying "This is New Dawn control, Sentient spotted at x sector" twice. It felt real.

People can learn that hitting stuff has its effects or wont learn it at all, or wont care even. Now, if we teach them with warnings sounds and inmersive control towers, the experience is both more unique and at the same time he should be able to learn that in space even docking is dangerous.

I really like these ideas and I'm going to point them out to the team.

As long as they have an opt in option (tags) in the safe (AI protection with bounties) zones Ill be happy.

Re: Constructive feedback......

Also cloaking will be another option. scout craft can go where they want to, and not be bothered by the rapid packs on gankers

Safe zones will bring more peeps to the game
