Re: Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
i prefer first person in driving games also, or bumper-cam. Unfortunately, most good driving games dont have a 'dashboard', or i'd prefer an in-cockpit dashboard. Oh well.
Regarding how colorful everything is... the universe did explode in some calamity. I think it looks good, being colorful. And it makes sense that there would be tons of super-heated gas all around giving off light. Look at a nebula for an example. |

Re: Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
So when did NetDevil ever do any marketing? There not a publisher are they? Let's see, 3DO and Themis did the marketing for Jumpgate? We know they sucked. They haven't done the marketing for any other game than Jumpgate Evolution. And for that there were more than 1.5 million pages in Google within a week. So I would say they have done pretty damn good at whatever marketing they have done so far on any game ever. Of course, they have hired a marketing company for that as well. And so far they are doing a pretty darn good job during the hype stage.

But IMO, there have been any number of ND decisions: 3DO, EPII handling, POSes, Themis Group, which have damaged their excellent game's opportunity to succeed. In fairness, other decisons -- like hiring Istvan -- were pretty damned good ones. To my original point, one of JGs great strengths (IMO) is its immersiveness. So I would focus on finding ways to expand on such immersiveness, and would NOT provide features that detract from immersion. You can try to make Jumpgate Evolution appeal to everyone. My guess is that would flop. Or you can make Jumpgate Evolution the fruition of all the things Jumpgate Classic could have been, but never was. The market for this will not be the same as WOW and Eve Online, but it can probaly be big enough -- and will probably be more loyal/persistent than eithr of those others. |

I would have to agree with Ambro tbh.
Edit: To be VERY honest, if the game is 'dumbed down' from the original, I most likely wont be playing. My days of playing games built for the masses (like EQ, SWG, WOW, etc) are over. |
