Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
Hi guys,
Scorch was nice enough to answer some questions for me and provide some screenshots. I don't normally pimp my storys, but I figure people here might be interested. The Corporation @ Corpnews.com | Lying About Games Since Forever |

Re: Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
Thanks for the interview.
We didn't get a lot of hard facts, but we did confirm that ND is looking at implementing a new pvp system. I think this is great news! Perhaps they have heard our suggestions on making PvP more meaningful? Also what I thought was interesting was the mention of the avatar/ship customization topic. For the first time, ND didn't completely knock that question down by saying they have no plans for any kind of personalization. I'm intriqued on this subject aswell, since I feel that adding personlized touches allows you to 'own' your character. Which tends to make the game more meaningful for a lot of people. The pictures were interesting. The first pic seemed to show some kind of large ship or structure blowing up at the top, with some red laser fire. In that second pic, we get to see what looks like Oct space, perhaps? and a possibly a dogfight/furball in the background. Interesting. In the last pic, the closeup of the ship next to the beacon is nice, and showcases some of the texture shader effects. I'm assuming the planets and stars in the skybox are static images. They certainly look nice. It'd be very impressive if they are dynamic objects that move, but somehow I doubt that. =) |

Re: Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
I get the impression there are a lot of things still "up in the air" as to how even the beta version is going to be handled. I look forward to when there's something to actually play with or we are given more "meaty" news to chew on. We've chewed the juice out of what we've been given already.

Re: Daslog interviews scorch (and some new screens)
Mr Slog: Do you have any concerns about alienating your existing players by changing the game?
Scorch: Certainly, and we know without our current players it will be impossible to succeed. That being said we are gathering names of our most trusted existing players and they will be helping us much earlier in our beta than other players to get their feedback and input to make sure the game is great for them as well. When I played Jumpgate Classic on the Server in Europe, one of the important things was, that the community was really good (compared to other mmos i played). I believe this was because the game was not too easy to get in. You had to speak english (which of course is not every european player) and you had to practice to gain skill. I had to train docking for 3 days, to feel safe. I think this is meant, when they want to make a easier game-start. So my little fear is, that if the access to the game is made much easier, this will open the community for players that need the game to be much easier. I like many players and I have no Problem in helping lesser skilled players (I need help myself) but I dont like players, which need help because they dont see the challenge in trying on their own. |
