I will admit that it is great for the bored higher ranks, those already at opti and such but I feel it leaves very little incentive to progress for anyone else.

In Jumpgate Classic I have accounts sat at ranks 26 and below that simply do not need to be levelled any further, I can do in them everything that I want them to do.

Now, looking from the perspective of the whole ecosystem of Jumpgate Classic, these accounts are worthless. They ADD nothing to the universe in terms of production or culture, they don't mine ore, they do not do anything that benefits the ecosystem simply because they do not need the exp earned by such endeavours. Having them working to level up, mining, building, patrolling to gain ranks will not help them do what they do any better.

I consider these accounts stagnant accounts and I do not think creating a niche for stagnant anythings is something that makes a good game better.
That is the most twisted logic I have ever seen. Just because you have no reason to level your extra accounts? Really? You still shoot flux and flight swarms and I still mined and haulers still hauled and tritian still pirated. If you make the game fun level doesn't matter.

I never used flux space. That doesn't make flux-space useless.

People flying ships and fighting require equipment and haulers and miners and money. It doesn't matter what level they are. What matters is that they are having fun doing it. Adding choice adds more activities to get involved in at higher level. Which means that there is more to do, and people end up flying more. Which is what we all want.

Re: Dearest Awen

Jumpgate leveling actually stopped at level 40, since you could use everything in the game at that point. And leveling past 26 did have its uses. You got options. Options are good. Level = effectiveness is bad.

I hate that quote soon (tm) it's frustrating and it doesn't give me hope. It pisses me off. I will never ever ever use it.

You just ask the questions that we can't release info on Grim! It's like you are fluttering through my mind looking for the stuff I can't talk about yet. Very contrary I say!

I do hope this is nt watered down to the extent that i fear after reading stuff of late hell hope the whole game dynamics aren't.
From my understanding and playing of EVE, the skill based system that they have is tedious and I'm never going to catch up to my friend who has been playing for 2 years longer than I have (I have been playing 2 years)and that frustrates me. I'm going to take a leap and say that we're not going to be like that. Did that answer the question?

Re: Dearest Awen

That is the one aspect of EVE that turned me off to the game completely. People running around flying cap ships like titans and carriers, and me knowing I had no chance whatsoever of catching them because there's no such thing as power gaming there. A guy who plays 40 hours a week advances just as fast as the guy running EVEMon who logs in for 5 minutes a day to switch skills.

Er i diddnt ask one

Just voicing some concerns ( after reading some of the last batch of news ) that some one had taken a stick to the game dynamics and beat it into submission., making it a shadow of its former self.

But its good to know that it isn’t going down the Eve skill route as that really would kill Jumpgate.

*it was halley_dooken that i was pointing out to that Evo makes me think of Eve on line*

I can't resist a thread that starts off as Dearest Awen. It appeals to the prima donna in me.

Well, you can't expect us to ask noob questions like, Do we have to use Jumpgates? or.. MORPG_Taera: smurfsamurai :asks: can you controle more then one ship at a time in jumpgate Evolution?

But hey, here is some.

Will there be other then pink flux?
Will there be other then flux (NPC) alien race, with ships and stuff.?
Can I cloak my ship like in Crysis.
Will all Jumpgates look the same?

It would certainly make my job much easier if you did ask those noob questions. Because they're wicked easy.

1. That hasn't been finalized
2. It's still in the design process
3. I do not know but chances are it's also part of the "it's still in the design process" club
4. Yes. It's a matter of making some things look the same simply so they're easy to spot and you definitely know what it is. So the jumpgates are also a core piece of the story.

In the perspective of the backstory; we only know of one way to make them as a group of nations. With that said, we're probably going to make them all look the same because it's a matter of blueprints.

Ah, yes, I remembered a question I had! Can you tell us approximately when Jumpgate Evolution is taking place in relation to Jumpgate Classic? I'm assuming it's in the future, but about how much? Knowing that would help me make some plans, hehe.

I think a similar question was answered in this or the other thread. Check the DevTracker...but iirc ~100 years.

Dearest Awen,

It is my current understanding that anyone with an active Jumpgate Classic account at the start of beta will get a beta invite with the first wave of beta invites. Is that correct?

If that is correct, and say for example beta happens to start in June....is there anything else I can do that doesn't cost $10 a month to improve my beta-invite-getting chances? (and I do mean anything, wink wink)

Love,
GrimGriz
