Re: Discuss the PvP situation please...

I think that the Jumpgate Classic veteran community needs to keep pushing the idea that, while it is ok to make the Jumpgate Evolution accessible for noobs, the mid to late games needs to be more like Jumpgate Classic. Pilots are going to get bored with a dumbed down game at the mid-point.

The one good point about Jumpgate Evolution is that the DANCER engine is still around. We vets cannot allow NetDevil to break F=ma with stuff like boosters. No warping like EVE and Vendetta Online.

My areas of concern:
  • Mid level pilots should be able to PvP Late level pilots.
  • Destroyed ships = lost resources.
  • Hitting stuff at speed should be fatal for Mid level pilots.
  • Mid level pilots should need to perform manual docking.
  • Tubes need to be small on battlestation/capital ships.
  • Gunnery needs to be like Jumpgate Classic.
  • Weapon ranges may need to be increased. (Herman talked about a 4km mortar weapons, Jumpgate Classic Barracks were 5.5km, Jumpgate Classic mortars were around 7km).

I'd say your best bet is to push for a seperate Hardcore PvP server. One with no safe zones, no HG rules, etc..

That being said, I don't think "destroyed ships = lost resources" will ever fly. Anything that makes the winners stronger that the losers creates a feedback loop with the losers having nothing left.

I was about to say, its Trit that tells people to choke himself, not me. Algore is right, I'm a hostile motherf-er, but I call em like I see em.

As for the PvP situation...

*netburnr would like to blow you out of the sky* Do you agree to a battle? yes/no

Thats what we are going to end up with I bet

To think of it as a place where "vets" can meet up and slap each other on the back and talk about previous "victories" really isn't healthy. Infact it's quite sad really.

Translation

Jumpgate Classic vets are pathetic and should choke themselves.

AL is every bit as hostile as trit and net with extra condescension thrown in for good measure. Al has a wounderful way of acting in the very same way twards otheres as he claims to dispise it's pricless

Re: Discuss the PvP situation please...

I see a pretty big difference between 'standard' condescension, which many Jumpgate community members, both new and old, possess, and telling people to commit bodily harm against themselves. However, I do know that he's (mostly) kidding, so I generallly speaking leave it alone. I am also not in charge, or a moderator, and don't know that I'd want to be for a group that likes expanding the boundaries as much as we do, so my opinion on the subject doesn't really mean a whole lot.
