Discuss the PvP situation please...
Quasar Bar, a Jumpgate Evolution Fansite for JGE fans
I read this artical by Istvan and it really worries me and kind of makes me feel like Jumpgate Evolution is not going to be anywhere close to Jumpgate Classic PvP-wise. He focuses on the topic and problem with balance of PvP and PvE and how they are trying to find the right balance and they are comparing it with World of Warcraft and saying it's not feasible for the WRONG reasons. This worrying me....can't they see they got it right with Jumpgate Classic! I think they are thinking more with numbers of subscribers rather then whats in demand at the moment. Instead of trying to get the PvE'ers and the PvPers all at once why not play it safe and just go for one not the other? You can't always have your cake and eat it. What I'm saying is I've never seen a perfect cross between PvE and PVP. It's not advisable and usually a big mistake trying to balance the two because it then doesn't appeal to either side. You can't make a PvP & PvE game in one, so either you decide you are designing a PvP game or a PvE game with a compliment of the other just as an extra but don't bother trying to make a balance. Thats my opinion above. Eve Online, World of Wacraft, Everquest, and many more have all proven you either design a PvP game and then add PvE (just for some extra stuff to do) or design a PvE game and add PvP (for competitive reasons). But don't bother trying to balance the two because it's never worked out. The MMO market wants a PvP game similar to Eve except real-time. Jumpgate Evolution completely has that market in the bag. Don't throw it away. |

Well, accesibilty doesn't mean they'd have to change the entire PvP structure. However, I do get the feeling that they are making changes to that too, in the effort to get a wider market range, even if that range doesn't really include the old range from Jumpgate classic. In this, I am referring to appeal rather than accessibility.

Why is that there just can't be an article about Jumpgate Evolution without the fucking mention of WoW....seriously, I'm getting sick of this, its like its freaking WoWGate all of a sudden

Jumpgate Evolution - I don't like where it's going I started to give up hope in November 1 2007, when I saw this: Netdevil could learn something from this review Pretty much everything after that confirmed the worst. |

It failed because of the publisher going under and the lack of any form of advertising at all. The old school grpahics didn't help. And lack of updates and support finally killed it
Not as much as they think they did....since they still don't seem to know how to please their core audience. Actually they are a game developer Quote:

I beg to differ. What NetDevil said the first several months is completely different than what they have said subsequently. Keep in mind they came at us with this whole "developer" as publisher malarkey which is obviously not what they truly intended.
