Just think how different Jumpgate Classic would have been without them. No TTelephone, no flying around to every station looking for them when they were in short supply, no obvious /win for the tense.

Yeah, until the OEC scoutpack comes and chases you down. There will always be smaller faster ships with less firepower for doing the chase down.
