Friendly Fire in Jumpgate Evolution?

Anyone know whether friendly fire will handled the same as it is in Jumpgate Classic? Will the "friendly" portion of that be determined by faction, squad, or some other factor like political allegiance?

Will you be able to create a Sol pilot that joins an Oct squad, then shoot other Sols with no more penalties than his Oct squad mates?

Re: Friendly Fire

As someone who hasn't played yet, can I ask how friendly fire is handled in Jumpgate Classic? I'm not sure I understand why it would be treated any differently, seeing as how Jumpgate seems to aim for realism.

Re: Friendly Fire

Well im not up to all this recent tag crap with squad wars (MT Tag), but before with Civ/HG, if you were HG you shoot anyone no penalty. If your civ and you shoot you get a temp bounty. If your HG and you shoot a civ, you get a temp. If your HG and kill HG, nothing, if your HG and kill a civ, perm bounty.

Re: Friendly Fire

Gaining temp bounties accidentally shooting squadies in Jumpgate Classic can be tiresome (although funny) but in a galaxy populated with x many players its a distraction I could do without. Saying that though, I doubt that its handling will differ from how it is in C.

MT (mil'tagged) can kill other @war factional MT for credits.
MT can kill other factions not @ war gaining a demerit only.
MT can kill civilians gaining a demerit only.
Too many demerits and you get kicked from mil - demerits effect missions payouts.
MT can kill other faction civilians who flip the MT's beacons for a temp only.
MT can kill temp bountied pilots for credits.
MT can kill pirates (heavily bountied) for credits.

Civilians can kill temp bountied pilots.
Civilians can kill pirates.

Pirates can kill pirates.
Pirates can kill temp bounties.
Pirates can kill civs or MT but their bounty goes up and up - an they pay it yarrrrr.

Everyone can kill everyone in unreg.

Flux can kill bountied, temps, civs, MT and rats.
Bountied, temps, civs, MT and rats can kill flux.

ND killed Tows.

This isn't about friendly fire in the way one would normally imagine the term.

Thats too easy and for the sake of international relations I will shut up *having first made sure there are no Americans behind me*

edit: or on the horizon, behind the horizon, in front of or besides.

Re: Friendly Fire

Vorlon, watch out for our Vice President, he shoots, hits but only wounds lawyers... Our military are generally more lethal.

I don't see "lighting up" someone's shields as deserving a bounty, temp or otherwise. Downing a pilot might depending on various factors.

I disagree. At early levels, yeah the pilots should be given a little leeway since they don't know which end of the gun goes boom. But later on, I think it's very reasonable to expect peace-tagged people not to discharge their weapons in peaceful areas. Otherwise, you could have the situation where 100 pilots all light up a guy's shields once, he dies, and only one of them is responsible.

Re: Friendly Fire

Add mortar use to the mix and you can splash multiple targets at once, from 6k away. I like mortars.

Re: Friendly Fire

Well Jumpgate isn't gonna be exactly like those games where you have to choose one faction and then fight or work for it.
The decision was always in the hands of the player.
