Re: Herman Interview on IGN
IF Jumpgate Evolution ends up as something I don't love as much as Jumpgate Classic, it will NOT be my fault. I applaud what I like and decry what I don't. I come up with ideas and criticize the ideas of others. Somehow by what Scorch, Istvan and Striker, as well as Awen post, I feel that we ARE listened to and what we suggest, comment on, criticize and praise WILL have an effect on what comes out.
I enjoy all the discussion of what Jumpgate Evolution is/should be. I love the breadth and multitude of ideas, even when I understand that not even 1% of them may be in the game that comes out. I simply hate having to wait until mid-summer for even early by-invitation-beta. Hell, I'm not even sure I'll be invited. I could get struck by an meteroite tonight or eaten by a dragon in the morning. Such is life. JumpGate Evolution excites me for what it COULD be and scares me with what it MIGHT be. "Wishing won't make it so and Waiting won't get it done". If Jumpgate Evolution ends up a steaming pile of gnu dung, it won't be because we vets here didn't care enough to speak out or the Devs failed to listen to our ideas and opinions! |

Re: Herman Interview on IGN
Grim got it right. Herman's comments about the game needing constant lvling, new and bigger ships and weapons to keep players misses the point of Jumpgate. We want balanced ships and a learning curve for a skill based game. Not a false sense of development by continually nerfing older equipment with new discovered or developed tech.
At a certain point in Classic the amount of time a player had been playing ceased to matter and skill took over, unlike Eve where a new player starts to realise the lvling is just a timesink and that he's never going to get on equal footing with their Vets. Content does not equal shinies and continually introducing new lvls does not equal depth. Saying that, when does Chess II come out, more squares and some really nice new pieces...you know the game needs it. |
