Re: Herman Interview on IGN
Thanks for the link, pretty good read.
I like how once again they said the game will practically be done by the time beta rolls around :\ |

Re: Herman Interview on IGN
Did we really learn anything new? I don't feel that I did. I DO worry that perhaps Jumpgate Evolution is being set up as "all things to all people" and to appeal to a MUCH wider audience than Jumpgate Classic did/does. (looks around himself at all the empty seats in the theater)... okay, so maybe that's a GOOD idea if you wish to be commercially successful, but that doesn't mean I'll like it.
The Beta comment is also worrisome. I hope everything is not "decided" and "set in stone" when it opens because (looks at above comment) I've got a feeling there's gonna be a good bit I won't be happy with. So once again, it's "wait and see" until there's something we can actually play with. |

Re: Herman Interview on IGN
I see it as saying they want the game to function smoothly and to have their vision of the systems they see implemented for our comment/suggestion/debugging/feedback. They say they're listening to what we say, and keeping it in mind as they consider their approaches to things. If, in beta, there is a system that they thought would be awesome, and once under use by a universe of users (rather than the limited number at the moment) turns out to suck, I'm sure they would make appropriate changes. Even when released, i'm sure the only things set in stone for eternity is going to be that we have spaceships, and the spaceships have guns.

Re: Herman Interview on IGN
I dont see what the problem is.
Not having played WOW and after playing Eve for a bit I can see the massive hole Jumpgate Classic has for a wider audience. So all the WOW clone comments mean diddly squat to me. I like what Ive read so far about the coming changes and very much look forward to them. If you dont like certain aspects of the new game just dont partake in them. You dont like instancing ?, then dont do them. To slag off a game before its even out yet is juvenile. Most of the people saying I want it like Jumpgate Classic dont even play anymore, what sense does that make ?. To me it seems to be more of a case of people wanting to complain rather than having a real reason to. If people wanted Jumpgate to stay the same, they should have damn well been playing it. Its all very well being nostalgic but some of us committed players want a complete game that matches more modern games as they are now, with 1,000s of players not just 10s, and if that means I have to compromise then so be it. edit: Hmm I just realise my post has nothing to do with any of the posts above, but I dont care I let my fingers do the talking and thats what they wanted to say today. |
