Perhaps Jumpgate Evolution should be entirely instanced, but should enable us to interact via chat (with mega filters ON) as well as in the sim . . . providing we wear full-body condoms.

Maybe the entire product could be offline use only (truely instanced), and we can discuss our experiences on the forums?
We should still wear condoms though.

Actually, they should make a trading-card game instead! That would be cool! Yeah, and condoms too!

I think there should be instance, have the like wow were you don't need to go there if you don't wont to. Have sum quests in there that you need to complete and 1-5 bosses even sum mini bosses that drop sum slightly better items then you would be able to get out side.
It should be mainly there for people who wont to play with friends in groups or small raids. small guilds but don't wont any one just flying in and stealing the kills/loot.
You could have 1 instance were you have to fight and destroy a small outpost and say a mining factory and then there main bass each having a boss in or around them.

The only way instancing could work is if they explained it as "pocket universes". But I don't see how they could explain creating a pocket universe on demand. Last, but not least, anyone who wants to play a single player game should stay away from MMO's.

In some ways im in favor of instances because it allows you to do things that otherwise you may miss out on. For example, i believe it was mentioned above, destroying a pirate outpost. Its possible to do in an instance because it will be generated specifically for you and whoever is flying with you at the time, but in a non instanced environment its conceivable that a person could go through their entire Jumpgate career without doing anything like that, simply because the target is destroyed by the time they get there.

Overall though, I think id prefer a non instanced design, simply because its nice to know that my actions had some impact on the game world, no matter how small.

in some cases instances might be helpful, think about the simulator which is an instance too.

think about attaking a real hard raid npc enemy and another faction players come along and disturbs you by killing the npc enemy

The difference between Jumpgate Classic and all other MMOs is that everything that happens in the universe actually happens in the universe. In other MMOs nothing ever happens. 7,000 people save the princess and she still needs saving the next time you make a character. That's static content.

The universe needs to change when players do things for it to be alive. Instances are just like playing a single-player game really.

Jumpgate's beauty has always been that player action impacts the Jumpgate universe. With instancing, that goes out the window since player action becomes isolated within it's own little "instance bubble."
