In the MMO developer dictionary dedication is synonymous with 'grinding'.

It's a real shame that developers have to use an artificial system to make the players jump through hoops then reward them by allowing them to do what they wanted to do in the first place. I don't see why they can't just make the mining itself a little tricky so that the better you actually get at it the more rewarding it is.

At some point you'd hope that the players realize the devs want their money, and that so long as they keep gobbling up crap that's what they'll get. Everyone votes every time they purchase anything, and in America at least, it's the only vote that really matters.

Hehe, since when is voting of the general public a good thing?

The problem is that majority of the population are low attention span, stupid sobs. If you want a game to appeal to a wide audience, you better not put any skill/logic/strategy requirements into it. Just put in plenty of time sinks; after all it's paid by month. The closer the mental effort required to play the game is to watching reality TV, the more successful you will be. The positive side to this is that with all the garbage games out there, I don't waste my time playing.

Heck GG, all it seems to mean to me is you have to have a couple of mining medals to get the best mining lasers, scanners, radars, etc. So what? You would have your mining license in what? two days? three? And it would take me and Elpirata..four at the most? So what?

Unless you give everyone all the toys at game start up, someone is always going to complain of "the grind". I prefer to have something to work for; something that screams "HE DID IT, SO CAN I". To show that in some small way I'm different and just possibly better than someone else at something, no matter how otherwise insignificant it may be.

They could do better. They fake character development by making things easier for you the longer you play, rather than rewarding the successful and ambitious with greater risk and greater reward.

Don't worry though WB, they're making the game for people like you, not for people like me.

Re: Interview with Hermann at Gry.o2.pl

Was it already known they "hope to release sometime in 2008."??? From what I've seen, that doesn't sound realistic to me.

Aph, i think the rest of us would rather live in denial and assume they will hit their target release of THIS YEAR!!!!

No pressure of course
