Re: Into the Precipice I go!
My take on what i've seen is that the PvP server would still have all the PVE content of the pve server. The PvE server would just have stricter requirements to partake in PvP (mutual consent by some form or another except in unreg), whereas the PvP server would be as loose as Jumpgate Classic ever was and my vibe says looser restrictions than what we currently have in Jumpgate Classic 1/2 MIL.

Anyhow, logically they would have the same content available on each server and just a little database entry for each sector to say if it was "safe" or not...I would assume that most of the sector's stats would be configurable via database entries, this would make them modular and their configuration could be easily changed during down time to compensate for problems the GM's might see. Anyhow, the following was all I could really find regarding "end game" content. Quote:

Re: Into the Precipice I go!
I don't understand the hubbub over the term 'end game'... ?
It simply means 'that point when a character has access to everything he's going to get access to'. In Jumpgate Classic, that would be level 50. Once you are level 50, you have access to every ship (that you can ever have), every piece of eq, and can take up any pasttime you want. That's all 'endgame' means. It doesn't mean that one day you will log in to a blank screen with a smiley face saying 'you've hit the end of the game. good bye' Not a big deal. |

Re: Into the Precipice I go!
Well Tim, you are hoping that's what it means to them. Though I believe the term used was "end of game". Either way, people that want to play in a persistent universe game will never like to hear these kinds of things. It's a term contrary to the term persistent and will mean different things to different people. So that's what the hubbub is about. If that's not your thing then that's fine too. I was always drawn to the persistent nature of Jumpgate. Though Themis kind of killed the whole story and the persistence was relegated to the servers it runs on.

I just don't like the term of 'end game' because the game isn't over. I'm not an idiot, I know that 'end game' doesn't mean 'one day you will log in to a blank screen with a smiley face saying 'you've hit the end of the game. good bye'. It was simply an offhanded comment on how the term doesn't really fit the content in an MMO that is continually worked on. It's not like I don't understand when people use the term 'end game' in a post, and I don't call them out on it and try to start a discussion on their choice of words, I just don't feel that the term is descriptive of what you're trying to say. If I talked to someone who doesn't play MMO's and used that term, they would most likely think I mean the END of the game, not the real meaning. Of course, I don't really understand what that was a bone of contention for you....and I don't think I was making it into a big deal, I made a sentence fragment that offhandedly mentioned it...and even ended with "and I digress"....boy, how much more do I have to do to show that I'm not gung-ho thinking something must be done? |

We were not trying to ignore your question, but it has been busy around here. The final cockpit/HUD config is still up in the air, as well as the TrackIR configuration. I will say that the current implementation of the TrackIR code does include the HUD elements as you look around, and the whole deadzone thing has been removed. But remember, this is all subject to change ![]() |

Re: Into the Precipice I go!
Why do so many assume NetDevil folks won't come by and talk to us anymore because some were upset at recent news? I'm pretty sure with the time constraints and the vast world out there that external activities need to be planned into a busy schedule.
Thanks for answering the question Striker. |

Re: Into the Precipice I go!
I bought the X52 recently just for Jumpgate, i love the thing, hopefully I'll be liking the game better in 1st person, i've never really liked using 3rd person on sim/combat sims unless it is too look around for targets. thanks for anwering though.
How about the flight mode, which do you guys find yourselves using the most, the Jumpgate Classic, the "easier" flight mode, or a bit of both ( PIE! ) ? |
