Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP
Oh yes I miss the large population. Really miss my squad -=MACK=-. What I don't miss is Rollio and his ilk, P.O.D. and there ilk, all the bickering and trash talking.
The bickering and trash talking was berable compared to the ever growing population of so called roll player Civ rippers and pirates. |

For example, People who want to "solo" may want to play a game 80% of the time solo, and 20% with other players. |

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP
Almost forgot, I wanted to comment on stripping.
The problem with station stripping is that it alloes one side can actually “win” the battle over the other, at least temporarily. In a persistent game, it’s a bad thing to have winners and losers. Sound backwards? Let me explain. In order for there to be a winner, there has to be a loser. What does it mean to be a loser in Jumpgate? There is no territory to lose and your POS is indestructible. The only way to win a war in Jumpgate is to make it so the loser doesn’t login anymore. You can either grief him out of the game or take away his desire to play. Station stripping is one of those things that makes people not want to login. Who wants to fly with crappy equipment or no equipment at all? Logging in to a stripped station results in people logging out and doing something else. Game mechanics that prevent the losers from recovering (like station stripping) just don’t work. |

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP
Yes sir, still am. Currently, I appear to be -=MACK=-. I'm doing my best to keep the tradition of trying to keep the stations stocked so dead pilots have what is needed to get back in space whereever they wind up, regardless of there faction. It's currently a bit tough since I started over and building my capitol from scratch.
You may have known me as Zaphod way back then. Maybe not, I tended to keep quite and off of anyones radar. |

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP
Well said. Station stripping not only affects the fighters (or losers), but the entire server. What about that newb that just wants to load up his first fighter and go fluxxing? What about the tow pilot that needs those engines to bring needed materials?
Station stripping affects everyone, and that is why I was always willing to take a bounty to prevent, or discourage it. I think its stupid I had to spend hours of my time to work off a bounty (and then days to bring myself back into good standing) when some asshat decided he wanted to take all the balls and go home. |

An environmental solution to this would be to limit how many equipment class items,of any 1 item, that can be removed via cargo hold. Equipment would have to be manufactured in custom producers or some kind of crafting system so mass quantities can be made and delivered. |
