Calm down dahalb. The poll is a bit like Tritians 1. remove/rework POS or 2. keep POS as they are, and then saying most people want POS removed because they voted for number 1.

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

Not quite, but i get where your coming from.
After i posted i thought about the question again. If I don MT tags, then i specifically consent to PvP! If I go to unreg then i specifically consent to PvP! If I am civ in regulated space I can still kill a pirate if I so wish so does that mean that I consent to PvP even if its only on my own terms? Being civ doesn't specifically say "I don't want to PvP leave me alone!" Its more of a preferential statement, "I would prefer not to enter into PvP". I'm just playing devils advocate here but if you actually launch you're really saying that i take my "life" in my own hands. Flux or Player, if some thing/one attacks me its because i made myself available as a target. Sitting in the station is the safest place to be, but theres very little fun to be had there!

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

The whole question is pathetic.

I was listenting to the most recent Drakker interview the other day and he had to call Jumpgate a "space combat sim" at least 10 times during the course of that interview. So if you decide to play a "space combat sim" you should probably understand that getting shot-at is likely to be part of the deal.

As Drakker alluded in that interview, it probably makes sense to give some level of protection to novice players so they can get a feel for the game before all of its "dangers" are unleashed. But the idea of people who have been playing for more than a month who continue to whine about being shot-at when they have subscribed to play an online "space combat sim" is complete absurdity.

Thanks.

It's just common sense (and 10+ years experience play PvP MMOGs) to know that you will be attacked at some point while playing on a PvP server. Your claim that it's possible you won't be is sheer lunacy.

Experience bears this out.

Statistically, the probability is so remote that I can guarantee it. Seph would do a lot better if he was a little more sincere in his arguments, and didn’t try to hide behind semantics

LOL. To many, this would NOT be considered a positive reference.

Well I have 13 years of PvP MMOG experience starting with beta testing Meridian59 back in 1995, and have been developing mods for games for 16 years, does that mean my opinion trumps yours? =)

If so, it is my opinion that you're too opinionated.
