Hell, I'm just surprised GG isn't gushing everywhere after the appearance of his beloved "turrets" in the second video! HA
Seriously though, it doesn't look too shabby really. At least they have SOMETHING but being told "spring of 2009" was disheartening to say the least. Was that "boost" we were seeing or a version of "zoom" from a 3rd person viewpoint? I'm not going to knacker it too badly without actually playing it regardless. I do wish he'd had it on a MUCH larger monitor (60"?) where I could have had more detail. Then again, I'm viewing it on a crappy 15" monitor. Nevermind. Wolfkin, thanks for posting the videos! |

Regarding the "cloud effect" -- these effects effectively replace the "space bricks" to give you a sense of motion and inertial vector. The bad news is that, the last I heard, the coulds would be the ONLY inertial vector indicator -- i.e. we would not have the little HUD arrow (or anything similar) any more.
Regarding the apparent flight physics. I agree that it looked HORRIBLY arcade-ish, but a) he was flying 3rd person; b) he was using dampened mode; and c) he was continually zooming in and out with the camera perspective -- which made the physics looks totally EnB-ish (yuk). I have grave concerns about dampened flight mode and also about hitbox sizes. You can completely ruin skill basis simply by making the hit boxes too big. He seemed to be blowing up AI ships while hardly looking at the screen. |
