IGN: Codemasters Online Partners with NetDevil to Bring New MMO for 2008

As Vorlon31 posted on the Jumpgate Evolution forums, Jumpgate Evolution has a new publisher: CodeMasters.

I know the company, I liked many games, but Im not liking one bit that again the North American Market takes second seat. Perhaps this means we'll have no safezones on the US server... who knows...

I would hardly call it "second seat." Jumpgate Classic announced MG as the EU publisher long before 3DO was on the scene, and the EU went commercial well before US did.

I would read this as NetDevil maintaining control in the North American market. Remember they rehosted Jumpgate Classic on new servers. It is likely they will host the North American server themselves like they had to do when 3DO tanked. I wouldn't read this as the North American market is secondary.

Looks like that their self-promotion got them some attention. But what will it do to the game? Time will tell.

It is a good thing that they have a publisher. But will the publisher have an effect on the game?

I stopped caring, either there going to make a game I will play or not no matter who publishes it. Since I haven't played jumpgate regularly in 3 years I think I can make it the rest of my life without playing again.

One thing is for sure I will not buy it before I try it. Made that mistake way to many times last year.

That aint going to happen. They already have their new hosting for Jumpgate Evolution which is why they moved Jumpgate.

I already know what it's like to play games in far away lands as do most people here. You play games a lot and you will have ping issues sooner or later.
