That Macris fellow that owned Themis or something. She interviewed him once (that's all i got when I googled both their names at the same time) so that kinda explained it. I heard the rumor and had to register on facebook just to find out if it was true or not. It was hella juicy gossip though.

I came up with the Hermann was Trogdor and she was Moll thing all by myself, though I have a knack for worst case scenarios after a lifetime of pessimism

However, with that said, we don't want to say that we're doing one thing and then it comes down to us not being able to put it in the game for one reason or another.

It's a matter of managing expectation. On one hand I want you to be really excited about this title because it's an amazing thing that is happening in our offices. This really gorgeous interesting game is being put together by a handful of really talented developers. On the other, this game is an evolving beast. Things change so rapidly that all we have is a basis of what we want. We KNOW we're going to have basic systems and this is what we would like it to do. We can't say that these features are going to make it into the end product because when it comes down to it, this beast needs to launch. If it didn't we'd start saying things like vaporware.

Did any of that make sense? The point in short is that I won't feed you bullsh%%. I will be straight up with you and when I say I can't tell you, it means that I really can't tell you.

When the news of Jumpgate Evolution came out in June it took all of us in the Jumpgate community by surprise. At that time the long term nature of this project was not clearly laid out. So in our hopes of finally having Jumpgate remade, after years of asking for it, our expectations were high. Especially when we heard the project had been ongoing in secret for a year. It was not crazy to think it would be here soon(tm). With the way info was being released we had every expectation that more info would be forthcoming at a rapid pace. And it did for a bit. But now, to us, it seems to be a log jam.

The Jumpgate community is a unique community in gaming. We may not always get along, but we all found something special in Jumpgate. Find me another community that raised money to buy advertisement for the game it played. We have come together for many things, we have exploded over many issues. Nevertheless, here we are huddled in a few surviving fan sites after all these years. So yes, we are quite nuts about Jumpgate.

So while the rest of the gaming world goes on about WoW and Crysis or whatever the game of the week is, they may not notice the time between Jumpgate Evolution information releases. They simply react when news is available and move on. But to us, this news is everything. We feel the time pass and it passes more slowly than most could stand. But here we stand, waiting, caring and hoping.

So while it's probably not fair of us to push you guys too much for the cards you hope to play for the endgame, it's also not fair to expect us to wait patiently in the same way as rest of the world. Jumpgate is seriously important to our humble and faithful little group.

Re: Jumpgate Evolution and Themis

Well said Jump, well said.

He is right about the community that is Jumpgate Players. We may fight a lot, we may call each other names, we may kill each other repeatedly in game, but there is one thing we all have in common. An insane dedication to a game that is pushing towards a decade of being out. We look past the major problems and we truck on. There had been a point where I could no longer play Jumpgate in its current state (years ago), and I left, but after hearing that ND decided to take another stab at it, I'm here 100%, and not-so-patiently waiting for either a Beta invite or Retail release. I can wait, but I don't want to

Crap! You've blown my infiltration schemes! I'm going to have to tell the Blizzard, SOE, NCSoft, Cartoon Network, SGW and EA friends that I have too that they're out of luck. They don't get to help me warp your play time experiences! *walks the hall of shame with flames of defeat shooting about*

I'm older than both of you and I did the Facebook thing! I also think I got a date, too -- just trying to figure out how to tell her I'm not REALLY 27. :P

So I may have been flip in some of my answers Jump but I can relate to this on so many levels you have no idea. I am a gamer. I'm a dedicated gamer. My game of choice is the MMO. I've played almost all of them since I started. I've sat in forums waiting for information to release. I've begged and pleaded inside contacts for anything I could get my hands on. It was one of the reasons I started doing gaming journalism. I needed to know!

We're in a log jam right now. There's no other way to explain it. There have been a few things that have happened in the last few months and we're low on bandwidth. One of them was hiring me. The other is getting our website and community efforts up and running.

Because we want to announce a specific piece of information in the next few weeks we haven't been putting out game specific information. It's not because we're ignoring any of our fans and their needs. We know you want to know. Believe me when I say we want to tell you!

Grace and I have spent hours coming up with a plan so that we have a solid information flow but we're waiting for one thing to happen first. Once that does, you'll get more from us.

I appreciate that you guys are passionate and that you're fans. I was specifically hired so that you would have someone dedicated to communicating with you. Keep in mind that I've only been on the job for a few weeks. I'll be much more useful to you as time moves on. We have months to get this information out so just be as patient as you possibly can with me and I'll make sure that your dedication isn't wasted.

Awen is already 10x better than Moll, me <3s ND for choosing her.

Re: Jumpgate Evolution and Themis

moll (mŏl) n. Slang
  1. A woman companion of a gunman or gangster.
  2. A woman prostitute.
Moll was way before my time, but I just _don't_ understand why there would be any ill feelings to someone who would name themselves this. That said, Awen is definitely a much better, cooler name.

Fair enough, but screen shots are a wonderful thing to bridge the gap between information releases. You can be too picky about what cards you choose play to the point that the players leave the game. Well, around here they just start shooting each other. Hopefully that log jam will bust soon.

Now, I'm extremely disappointed in GrimGriz. Your post has been up several hours and he hasn't asked who Grace is. Maybe something is wrong with him. I hope he isn't sick or something.

Good point Jump, who is Grace? More importantly, can I bribe her for a Beta invite?
