I'm one of the biggest dicks in the world to certain people on ND's forums, but I do my best to explain why I'm being a dick and that seems to keep me off the ban list... (for now)

By your own admission it's a "for now" situation. Jumpgate Classic was built around conflict (otherwise known as PvP). There's always going to be squabbles. The real key is people to not overreact to them.

I agree with company sites not having all the blah blah forums. It really makes it hard as a customer to get help in all the noise. And as a customer, that's all I really go to those places for. I prefer fansites for the chit chat.

In no way do I think Awen is anything like Moll. I have had many conversations with her and she seems like a good person who wants to do right by the community. I think the comparisons people have made are unfair so soon into this deal. It's a big job for someone to do all by themselves. They really don't have anyone else there but her. Sure there are devs but it's not their responsibility.

I'm not sure what you guys expected from a company site and the intermingling with so many that haven't played Jumpgate. Many of those people are just not going to get a lot of the references or inside jokes. They don't know all the different personalities. They don't know who is probably doing a Friday night drive buy drunken posting spree or who is just a daily troll. There was bound to be conflict and the repercussions of that conflict.

Honesty and transparency. That's what I want and what I expect. When it comes to game progress they HAVE been both honest and transparent. I feel they should extend that attitude to their disciplinary actions.

Tell us what the rules are and tell us when we break them. The problem with that is most of us don't wait to read all the rules, nor do we always know exactly what they mean or how they will be enforced even if we do read them. When someone does something worthy of a ban, either temporary or certainly permanent, I believe the company owes the rest of it's customers a "who" and a "why". Not to shame the perpetrator but to educate the rest of us. Hopefully so we can say "... well you can bet your ass I don't want any damned eggs!" (punch line from a childish joke).

What good does it do to punish one, if the remaining hundreds know not why the other was punished?

Ok, but there is a thing as going too far. You guys can of course continue on if you wish but everyone is turning JSR into a complaint form. There must be something else to talk about. It's not the end of the world or anything. Can't we talk about Jumpgate, Jumpgate Evolution and other games again?

Hence one of the reasons i have left by the side door. The forums at Jumpgate Evolution are very badly moderated, as they are and with time I'm sure they will get better as they add more people and Awen learns how to deal with people better.


This has nothing to do with my ban which was a laughable farce at best and one I really couldn?t give a two bob bit about in fact it was kind of nice and after going back to them to make a few post's realize that I really can't be bothered with them for the time being.

As for new games I just got space empires V off steam and call ne a nerd but I added the entire Jumpgate race's into my custom games so no I'm doing battle with the them but on a space empire building trip, it's very in depth ok it's not going to win any awards for its eye candy (nice 2d shots of components though) It's the depth depth of the game and the stagey I like and it's a real time muncher so suits me fine.
