Marketing: Jumpgate Evolution

Evening!

I've just downloaded some crack on GCW (shame on me), seen an EVE-Online Banner promoting a 14-day trial, then dived through the JR forums and was wondered not to find any thread about how ND wants to get the words to all the people out there.

I'm all curious,.. what is planned? EVE has banners.. loads of banners. Barns full. Ads in magazines? None of my friends has ever bought a mag... including my second me. Furthermore, ads might cost you a leg or two.

It could be harder without a publisher waving money around. I'd publish you but I'm busy running my oil bussiness atm. Let's hear ideas.

I know about the red and green lights everywhere out there. however they're NOT beacons nor indication for Jumpgate ads and therefore not valid.

Please remember that marketing may be even more important than the quality of a product.

Never a single problem with Steam, either. In fact, when I'm bored I do actually look for games to buy from within the client. I'd LOVE to see Jumpgate sold via Steam (that's a lot of gamers who'd see it!), but I don't think they handle MMOGs.

Got Steam a few days ago and downloaded the Orange Box with it. Definitely and "evil" invention, designed by people who's sole mission in life is to destroy the lives of anyone not single.

I don't know how advertising works. I started reading Penny Arcade because Jumpgate was advertised there.... Now it's in my favourites.

I got some ideas.

Put a flashing banner on ISS.
Send Jumpgate copies to Space camps..
Create the most expensive Game Trailer ever, like more expensive then Titanic the movie, this will create alot of hype and everyone will talk about it..
Have cheap celeberties wear t-shirts and play the game on TV, so the sheeps follow.
Have Chuck Norris tell how awesome it is and that it is more Awesome then Chuck Norris himself. Same with MacGyver.
