Not to me. You would have a shoot em up on one server, and carebears and smurfs on another. Then that large population of us that like to play the game between the two are left out.

lol @ Eraser. You even nailed what the ships look like

I don't see too much here that's terribly surprising. And if they're aiming for 2000 people for shard the 50 people that still play Jumpgate are probably of limited value to them

Yeah? I am sure the thousands that have played are of some value.

Just to address the Sim comment.

Players want meaningful pvp...as in their battles actually matter for something. We don't want to be come SIM jockeys where nothing matters.

exacly. And if they enforce artificial laws in real space, it will be just as good as Sim.

Yes, I get that and I agree. What I'm saying is they already have a "Consensual" PvP system with the SIM. They should really leave world PvP as an anyone can initiate it at any time. HG flags and penalties for attacking Civs seem like enough protection.

This isn't a game where you have 3 or 5 characters on an account and can delete them if they get a bad rep...you can't even change your name.... If someone starts ripping civ's, at least from what I remember back when the game was hot-n-heavy with players...those people got hunted down and killed every time they launched. They had to work their rep back up. It seemed to be plenty to avoid alot of grief....Players as the police/bounty hunters. No need to remove PvP from a large portion of the game....I always thought this WAS a PvP game.

Re: Massively.com Interview With Questions From Players

Well, you can bet that many carebears will prefer to be on the PvP server (I can probably count them with one hand, but we're the hardcore carebears I guess) than stay on Carebear Paradise. I would even suggest that carebear numbers done in Hellhole should be of more value than of Carebear Paradise.

The 10 vs 10 in the sim sounds nice in theory but it ends up feeling more like Freespace or Starlancer instead of what Jumpgate is. Is ok for squad vs squad practive and such, or for arranged tournaments.

I would even go as far as suggest that there should be 'persistent simulators for the carebears instead'. Want perfect stuff? get in the sim, nobody will bother you there.

Re: Massively.com Interview With Questions From Players

A lot of the questions were questions that I did not see asked during other interviews or write-ups. I asked my squaddies and people I still had on ICQ with the limited time that I had.

The interview was done by Massively and not me, so I just provided a list of 25 questions within the short time I had. And boy did I have a lot of catch up to do to prep that.

Re: Massively.com Interview With Questions From Players

+1 to join the league of hardcore carebears.

The only hope I got was right at the start when he mentioned that PvP in certain zones was allowed, just heavily protected (presumably by AI). Now, the AI may be way improved but against a top pilot?

Still, thats the only hope, a kinda depressing interview in all.
