Re: New article on Warcry
I hate to disagree with you Jump but I found a lot that was new, news and good news to me.
"To that end, they've put in two versions of space flight. There is a simplified version for the average player and an advanced engine for those who really want the full experience." That tells me a lot more than I'd heard previously. So there's going to be a "jumpgate lite"? Not sure I like that, but then there's this: "Now the game features safe and dangerous areas of space, like so many other MMOs. However, they hope to create a situation where players feel free to explore both options equally. " Tritian, Septhiroth and the others who believe they should have unlimited ability to "force their RP" on others aren't going to like that even a little bit. I also like this: "The original Jumpgate was very much a single pilot vs. single pilot scenario," he noted. In Jumpgate Evolution, players can expect epic encounters. They made it a goal to ensure players could live out the epic battles of science-fiction literature and film in their game. That means, in PvE, players can expect epic raids, while in PvP, fleet battles are in order. BATTLE FLEETS? OMG! Raids too? This sounds very interesting and finally there's this: "We want to create a floating economy, so trade is a much bigger part of it," he said. There is a much bigger emphasis on loot, items, collection and trade. These factors were largely marginalized in their first attempt, but are an important part of the genre they now embrace. Wow! A place for traders. Loot in Jumpgate? Collection? Does that mean like the Gang's Insurance sales? I don't know about you, my fellow campers, but all this stuff was news to me, and mostly good news at that. The "second half of 2008" was the only down note and that simply because I want to play it NOW! |

Re: New article on Warcry
Ok, you're quoting that. But who is saying it in the article? I guess I just don't like how it is written. A few things in quote marks and lot of interpretation and conjecture by the writer. But that's just my opinion and not the end of anyones world. Too many interviews and my mind has gone numb.

While the statement about "safe places" definitely puts me on edge, I think ND is smart enough to listen to us and understand that what makes Jumpgate so special, is the fact that at all times, you are not "safe". I mean its space combat FFS ![]() |

![]() I think they have hinted at this from the very beginning. The want to find a way for everyone to play and still feel like it's their game. What that means in the end we'll see. But I doubt it's set in stone. |
