how could you blame anyone for quiting Jumpgate, or whining? There were many reasons to stop playing Jumpgate, and many reasons to whine.

Craptastic RP killing GM's, JOSSH being down for months and months at a time. Huge delays in EP2, low online numbers, lackluster dev support, virtually ZERO story developement in the last 3 years, broken war meters that make it impossible for you to fight one or both factions, exploiters that run rampant for months without any sign of activity from ND, economic exploits abuse that went unchecked for years, the Military Patch, etc etc etc.

You're opinion isn't any better then theirs Algore, I suggest you step off your high horse.

I just don't understand the concept of quitting Jumpgate.

Whining is always counterproductive.

Good points.
You seem to either ignore or forget the fact that I have played both servers. On the EU under Mightgames did not have several of the problems you mention;
RP less server
Jossh down
Lack of support
Exploiters running amok etc.

It seems to me when anyone mentions the EU server and the fact that it always had more players that this offends the diehard "US Vets". All I am saying is that I was about before and after most of you on both servers.

Like I say we all have opinions. Not all are balanced.

TBH, i think most of the whining comes from the US vets or those that played on the US server. though you played on both servers, i don't really ever recall you on US prior to the server merge. so i doubt you ever had to deal w/ a lot of the crap listed that us "US vets" had to deal with. and just because you were 'about' before or after most, does not make your opinion matter more than most.

also, some of us had to quit because RL situations forced us to. doesn't make what we say/think any less valuable than someone that played continuously for years. in fact, i'd say because you were so tied into the game, you may have lost some perspective for it.

Re: The new Codemasters forum

Oh yeah? Well, I had a really, really cool joystick, so _my_ opinion matters more!!

no, wait, I had a basic joystick, so actually, _that_ means my opinion matters more, because I wasn't so focused on my joystick.

Actually, my monitor was huge, _and_ I had a beta account, so I saw more of the game than anybody!!!! My opinion r teh ub3R!!!

I know you hate it when I do this but....

I agree, but the signal the noise ratio on the codemasters forum is so bad, I dont know if we would be heard anyway.

I'm pissed at the direction JG is taking. I'm pissed that every time Hermann speaks about JGE, he seems to have zero clue about the detrimental consequences his ideas would have on the RP community and skill-based gameplay.
ND clearly made a decision to take Jumpgate Evolution in a very different direction from Jumpgate Classic. I don't know whether that's good or bad, but I don't think anything we say will change that.

I like Hermann as a person but I completely disagree with his whole philosophy. Unfortunately he's holding all the cards and he seems a bit short sighted with how he's playing them.
I don't think of it as shortsighted as much as a direction I don't like. I think from day 1 they wanted to make a twitch based WoW. That kinda sucks because death (or anything else you do in WoW) really has no meaning.

Codemasters... they are also worrisome. In the short interactions we've had with them so far, they have proven to be incompetent and heavy handed in maintaining their community portal. This doesn't exactly instill me with much confidence if we are forced to give them our credit card information. I really do not like my personal information being trusted with people who cant be bothered to keep up to date with the security patches for their various web services. If I were them, i'd hire a security guy, or fire their current one.
Codemasters is another one of these large publishers that deals with everything based on a manual. They probably have outsourced Indians doing the moderation based on some stupid guidelines and follow them by the book

Now, saying all this, I still think there is some hope. If enough folks push for an open PvP server, we can just leave the drooling idiots behind. This worked great in Asheron's Call, which was a somewhat twitched based MMORPG. We had our own server, no carebear types, anyone could kill anyone at any time.

I think that's our best hope.

Based on what I saw, I'd hardly call it a VERY different direction. The major changes I see is are the AI and the over-zealous attitude (IMO) about accessibility. The AI is all about balance, but the accessibility thing has lots of tentacles -- EZ-docking, minimized collision damage, PvP skill-leveling and safe zones.

We've been told that they are planning safe-zone-free servers, so the biggeest remaining issues (IMO) would be the PvP Skill-Levelling and the removal of the docking skill requirement. The first is a matter of balance (i.e. some levelling is not a bad idea, just so it does not remove too much skill basis). The latter, while a bit distasteful to me, I could lear to live with.

The changes to the markets and mining seems to be pretty positive all-around . . . thine kinds of things that would have been welcome in Jumpgate Classic long ago.

Yeah, you guys had to deal with a lot more US crap than I did as you were more involved in the PvP situation and all that goes with that. Before the Moll escpade and FF blockade I didn't shoot anything before that point on US.
My comments regarding playing under both management styles(EU/US+various GM'S) and playing constantly is more directed at my understanding of transitional periods within Jumpgate. I'm only statng facts here.
I'm not totally ignorant to see why my opinions can be taken as thinking the people who quits' opinions are not as strong as mine. I just have a different, in my opinion more unique, perspective. Like you all have to me.
At he end of the day irrespective of what is said on the forums, if I had to pick teams for a PvP fight you idiots would most likely be the first ones I would pick. To me that respect is all that matters

Fair Enough. As long as the PvP server actually happens and the accessibility stuff doesn't interfere with skills bases PvP then I think things could work.
