As some of you questioned if your machines will be able to play the new game will you post your min spec so we can take a look?

Specifically if we made the minimum resolution 1024x768 would that be ok? Working on the new UI and trying to make it work in 800x600 is a lot of extra work and we are trying to figure out if we even need to do this.

Well, I run at 1280 x 960 so it's ok with me.

I'm going to build a new system in a couple months so I'm not too concerned about minimums. The higher the specs the better the game will be and the easier it will be to develop. IMO

Fine by me... im running 1280 x 1024 (native res for my flatpanel). Of course your not really looking for my specs i suppose. Generally from my experience, 1024x768 means 17" or greater monitor(for small text legibility). I would think with prices as they have been for a while that shouldn't be too hard to do. However greater resolution also means greater video processor power would be needed and possiblity more ram to hold textures?

Which of course is why you want min specs of poeples machines... and im just posting because i like to hear myself type or something... and that i feel i need to reply whenever Scorch types something.

So please ignore me... unless you want me to test something with an old PC.... of which would finally make me having all these old PCs here useful.

Those of you with older/slower PCs.. speak up!!!!!

1024x768 should work fine. Also, widescreen capability would be nice.

i get 1024x768, though that's the max res on my little LCD flatscreen.

for the rest, AMD Athlon 800 mHz, 512 MB RAM

graphics card is decent, an NVIDIA GeForce 4200, don't remember how much memory it has built in. I think it's 256 MB

I have cable high speed internet so I don't forsee that being a challenge.

Do's any one run anything in 800x600 any more? I thought it would be better trying to push it up rather than back, this is 2007 heading to 08, that’s been Jumpgates problem for a lot of people the fact that it looked like it was stuck in the late 80’s.

Most graphics cards even the built in ones will let you run at 1280x 1024, now we are in the wide screen arena with resolutions of 1600 x 1200 and if you have the toys you can have dual DVI at 2560 x 1600.

Hardware has moved on so have gamers and there expectations, graphics and content wise, don’t let Jumpgate fall at the first huddle.

What im trying to say is please tell us that we will need more than our old steam powered machines to run Jumpgate now.

But its good for me as I run at 1280x1024 for everything, but my card can handle much more only the old 17” CRT that is stopping me.

Pentium 4 3ghz over clocked to run at 3.2 ghz ( soon going up to a Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz edit OMG they have fallen bellow the £90 mark )

1 Gig Crosshair 3200 DDR. ( soon to be 2 gig )

I old but still going 17” CRT ( want a 19/20 wide screen LCD. )

AGP x8 Ati Radeon 9600 128 meg running at 400Mhz

Western Digital 250 Gig Serial ATA-300 with 16MB buffer

Need to upgrade the Graphics card to one of the newer models but not sure if im going PCI-E, Xfire/SLI or sticking with AGP depending on the MB

Also look at the spec of the PC’s that people are buying off the shelf’s of their local PC dealer it’s better than mine, my spec is old and slow and most gamers have a far better spec, hell even my mums put me to shame a while back.

I'm sorry, but if people are still running 800x600 they need to jump out a window (to quote Brutus). Hell, I've been running 1024x768 since 2 pcs ago (5 years).

Hehe, I used to run 800x600 just to see how high I could get my fps, but yeah, 1024x768 works fine.
