Just for sake of discussion, what would happen if stats were removed. Or at least most of them like deaths, kills etc? Would it change the gameplay experience or not

No stats...

Just for sake of discussion, what would happen if stats were removed. Or at least most of them like deaths, kills etc?

Would it change the gameplay experience or not at all?

I guess the answer might depend on people that you will ask.

Most vets will see this as a major change since it is basicly all their achievements in-game.

New players will not care much since they are just starting and do not that kind of investment in game.

what would happen, we would have discussions over who won, whos the best squad, killbraggers.. Lots of kids claiming they killed over 1000pilots.. bah.. just hell..

True. You will get it anyway where there is a large population and second accounts will not make it easier.

So are stats much more important to Jumpgate than safe zones and other game mechanics?

Stats are part of Jumpgate and frankly they are a part of a lot of games. People like to see themselves in their imaginary world.

maybe a /publishstats option?

Then if peeps want to play as a mystery person they can. They could even use hidden stats as a business card to prospective clients....

Not really.. just the kill.. being paid is a secondary consideration... just as long as I DO get paid. And before I forget... of course now that you have seen my stats I do trust your memory will fail shortly, wont it. That looks like an expensive suit, it would be a shame if it developed bloodstained holes and the like...

"Errm yesss.. Quite right... errm *twitch* err the name on the hit is........."

hehe, nice one vorlon

Radi: I think they are very important. Every game I play has stats.. Like when I finnish playing some strategy games, I like to see how well I did comparing to others, even if I won. In Jumpgate they are like a badge of honor, they are your achievements. Also it tells a little bit of what kind of person that is. I would love to see even more specific Stats. Maybe even a record of being in famous "wars/quests/roleplays" and stats from this war.. and so on.. Or squad wars, and seperate stats for that aswell.. Easier to see whos the best..

On the whole most of the stats mean bugger all to me, missile/gun shot accuracy take offs landings disconnects etc.

The only ones I ever looked at were Flux kills and cash flow, but I really do think without the stats your would be missing something from the game.

there needs to be more stats. way more stats. stats for everything.

Also, I want a listing of all the people i've killed, what squads they were in when I killed them, what squad I was in, how much armor I had left, etc.

More stats!

People will always figure out a way to get stat's out of the game, that is one thing Jumpgate Classic did well. I would like a way to view stat's in game.

Stats are an integral part of the game. even if half of them are written down on a papr somwhere that nobody will see. Besides, who here can honestly say they would enjoy the game as much without their precious shinys?

What Trit said. Lots and lots more stats. Types of ore mined, types of flux killed, kill breakdowns by ship and tag category, home beacons retuned, enemy beacons flipped. Oh, and I'd love to see a mouse-over popup that details WHY a pilot received a factional medal.

ya know, since they've removed kill stats for killing civs, can we put that in a seperate stat? # of civ kills.

oh, and # of times killed by missiles.
