Please explain safe zones.

I think its about time for ND to explain what they are doing with safe zones so that all the misconception about them can end.

Are you going for the easy to code no player vs player damage except in predefined zones or AI security in some sectors with consensual PvP anywhere ?.

Re: Please explain safe zones.

May I humbly submit that you will be disappointed in whatever answer you are given because I doubt even ND is sure yet of exactly what safe zones are going to be.

The fact is that we're still in the process of working on many of the integral systems and if we made a statement of what exactly these zones are going to entail at this point, it could very well all change. That's why you're not hearing definite details from us on these things yet. As soon as the design kinks are worked out and it makes sense, I'm positive that we'll make all of this more clear to our fans.

I respect your perseverance, dial, but come on.. actual information?

Dude, start with the easy requests.. like, cold fusion or something. _Then_ build to the game mechanics queries.

Well, you could give us non-definite details and we could all say "Oh noes!" and tell you why what you're picking is horrible. You can do this with all of your options and then pick the whining sound you like best.

Re: Please explain safe zones.

IMO asking for finite information on what is likely to be a very important part of our non-RL future is not whining. It's like trying to get a look at the sonogram of the baby. We all want to know if we've got a dangler or not.

The true whining won't start until we have sufficient information to base our whine upon. "Why can't I shoot the (insert derogative) in the Safe Zone? He hurted my delicate feelings and I wanna pod him!" etc

Re: Please explain safe zones.

i wouldn't say they are hiding info, just holding back on commenting a bout Safe Zones until they have all the mechanics worked out or at least a good solid plan they can release to the community to see what we thinks.

LOL, give Scorch some credit. He is not soft like you suggest. If he wanted to say something he would say it, just like we do. I doubt there is anything to say about it yet. They threw out some ideas, some people liked it, some didn't. I doubt any of it is coded yet as far as so called "safe zones" are concerned.
