heh.. 13 hrs might bring the rights to an opinion, but it certainly won't help with perspective

Anyone that's played the game has a right to an opinion on this site. In fact, we value the opinion those that have not played the game. The only ones that have ownership of this game are NetDevil.

Talk about The Pot Calling The Kettle Black.

FYI dailatron used to fly under the FC banner thus he doesn’t have to stoop any way to consort with as you so poetically put it the squid master, I believe the door is always open for old friends to pop in and chat.

Ambro's modification of my position is acceptible with me. (I agree with Ambro agreeing with me.) I was valuing the mission merely by risk, but it makes excellence sense to consider risk, necessity and difficulty all together when setting mission value.

Re: Policing Civ rippers

i have not read all the thread so forgive me if this has been thrown out there... AI escorts. The escort would have an upfront cost and then an hourly rate. In order to launch with an escort you have to have < X weaponry & X shielding and must be civilian. The AI escort would be much better than the MK droids but not so uber that a fairly skill Pilot would not be able to destroy it. Hopefully the droid would be powerful enough so that the civilian could protect him/herself or get away.

Re: Policing Civ rippers

Well from the latest interview we can ascertain that there will be differing shards for the "I don't want to be touched" crowd and the "meh...whatever" crowd. These separate shards will not have interactivity between them, to coin a phrase "what goes on in a shard, stays in that shard".

AI is going to be implemented. AI pirates will be there and so will (most likely) AI police or military. So even on a PVE shard, "civs" wont be immune to being attacked.

If I had to guess I would assume that the PVP shard will be more profitable for miners and haulers with the corresponding increase in danger, whereas the Fluxers and died in the wool carebears will be more at home on the PVE shard.

All in all things should work out fine with the whiners dealt with by the player base or non-existent in individual shards.

Re: Policing Civ rippers

What is this "shard" of which you are speaking (please don't refer me to the PC Radio interview since I can't get them on my comp). Only shards I'm familar with are mining medals.

Re: Policing Civ rippers

It sounds as if shards will appear as the player base grows, hopefully you will be able to pick your shard and not be allocated by region or anything else.
It would be a shame to lose touch with old friends or enemies.
edit for WB...They are looking at having several servers (shards) running the game, rather than one huge server as they get more players...like US and a Euro server for example, each shard would be completely separate

Re: Policing Civ rippers

The easiest way to explain shard would be to compare them to the EU and US servers. Thats all they really are, just different servers. The rules for each of these servers will differ slightly (most likely around PvP). Interaction between the shards(servers) will be limited at best.
