Re: predictions on launch date

They announced it after a year of development so I doubt it was rushed out early. They simply had something to show us and the world after a years work. Most games are hyped when they are still conceptual. Heck, BioShock was hyped back when it had a whole different story and setting. And it sold over a million and a half already. (another somewhat "in house" game I might add). Star Craft has been hyped since Moses was still a Colonel and it is sure to be hit. Hype is good but I think they need to hype at greater frequency. More Hype NetDevil!!! |

Re: predictions on launch date
AA not their game because all they did was create it? Jump, I know these are your boards but I'm going to have to respectfully ask you to stand in the corner quietly for the next half hour and think about what you said. Don't bother with tears cause I'm not changing my mind.
I felt the timing was too close to the "demise of AA" announcement for the Evolutions announcement not to be linked. Instead of focusing on AA all the buzz was about Jumpgate Evolution (smart move imho). I also believe that the AA experience has hardened ND in terms of not releasing (even for testing) something that isn't pretty good. I'd like to play Evolutions as soon as possible but I'd rather wait another year to beta test if that's what it takes to do it right. Xerout |

<--Puts on the swammy hat and gazzes into the crystal ball.
I predict Beta will start late November or early December. Gold will be 6-12 months later. From the hints in the latest interviews it sounds as if it's ready for beta now. But as was mentenioned in an earlyer interview, they do not want to open beta untill all the features they intend to present at launch are in place. If they do the beta as they are adding the features, it may leave a bad first impression on the minds of many people. We know the graphics will wow us but will the game play wow us? |

Re: predictions on launch date
All I know is that I've already started a "Jumpgate Evolution Payroll Deduction Savings Program". The longer it takes, the more massive my gaming rig will be when it comes out! Perhaps something like this?
Woo hoo! JP |

Re: predictions on launch date
lol I like the payroll deduction idea, but in this case it will be entirely unneccesary given that Evolution is being designed to run on a worse machine then anyone I know owns!!! And believe me, my machine might be uber but most of my friends are not!!
PS- thanks for the welcome, I'm an MMO vet but new to the Jumpgate universe. Vanguard has left me jaded, Eve bored me to death before I got through the tutorial, and I hope Jumpgate will aid my recovery! I really miss Wing Commander (I actually re-installed WC4 last year but it kept crashing on my sweet new rig!) Grimm |

Re: predictions on launch date
AA was developed (that means hired to do the job) by NetDevil and published by NCsoft (that means ownage and IP control) Auto Assault - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Read that wiki page and you might come to some shocking conclusions as to why NCsoft pulled the plug. NetDevil got paid to develop a game and that's what they did. Insulting me won't change that fact and I don't have time to adjust your understanding of the gaming industry other than pointing you in the right direction.

Re: predictions on launch date
Since I would hope its a labor of love and not trying to meet a deadline, no less than 18+ months away. I think ND is in a good position if they keep on track with their LEGO MMO project to keep paying the bills for their one true love: Jumpgate.

Re: predictions on launch date
ND was "hired" to develop AA? News to me. I thought they ginned-up the idea, pitched it to the Publisher, got funding, and then developed it. But once you takes the money from the Publisher, they then own it. So I believe it was Netdevil's game, which they ultimately sold the rights to.
There little doubt that there were connections between the shut down of one and the resurrection of another -- it was all about resources. |
