predictions on launch date
When do you think Evolution will go live? I'm hoping it will be a short development cycle since they already have a core game to start from.
I really hope I dont have to wait too long for this.... the suspense is killing me!!!! I'm going to guess spring 08' but I really hope its sooner! I need something good to get me through the snowy months. |

Re: predictions on launch date
well... there is a pretty significant number of conspiracy theorist folks who think the world will end in 2012. So we may not ever see it. 2012 isn't that far off in terms of JumpGate development time...

Re: predictions on launch date
Grimm, most of us that have been in this community for six or seven years and have been through all the ups and downs hope it comes out when it's good and ready. Your ideas of a core game being there are probably a bit too optimistic. Yes it has the D.A.N.C.E.R. flight engine, but I am sure the code needed a lot of reworking. I'm not sure if it had any 16 bit code like the installer but if it does in needs to go. I would be willing to bet that the code base will be 80% new and the 20% that remains will be kicked around some and then maybe some more.
This is a unique opportunity for NetDevil since they hold the IP for this game. Whether they fail or succeed in this venture will say a lot about them as a company and could be instrumental in their future of NetDevil, good or bad. They can't afford to make hasty decisions. The good news is there are no publishers to demand hasty decisions. It's all on their shoulders this time. So whenever it's ready I am ready to play. In the meantime I'm ready to discuss and speculate. And if they ever get the 16 bit code removed from the installer and update the net code, I would be ready to play the current game. As it is right now, Vista x64 leaves me looking in. I just wish they would give us more stuff to show off. Oh, and welcome to Joystick Required. |

Re: predictions on launch date
FWIW, it's my understanding that "Soon(tm)" was coined by Josh -- who is best know for making a debacle of EPII. I believe just about everyone at NetDevil cringes at the term.
In terms of timing, I agree that Netdevil's unique position with Jumpgate allows them a certain independence. Hopefully, though, they understand that in the overall formula is "buzz factor." There's a fair amout of buzz around the game right now. It won't last forever. If you wait too long, the game is old before it's released. |

LOL
I agree with Ambro tho, if they wait too long, the game will be old news and new players will be fewer. The Hyp needs to be focused but not prolonged. I'm still of the view that when they get it right is when it should be released but... Hurry up ND ![]() |
