Re: PVP - what dont you like.

For the thread title, i personally hate getting killed by the very guy i just wasted half my armour on as im making my way back for a dock and hes launching from a POS, but thats just the hazards of combat i guess.

I would like to see FF burning reduce armour as a penalty, would make speed docking a bit riskier and make pilots more aware and careful of FF use. I say armour/hull as we dont have an engine wear readout. What about that though ? every time you fire off a FF, your engine speed capacity drops by a certain percentage, that would be awesome and almost realistic.

As for kill-stealing, its the best skill a PvPer can ever have as far as im concerned, sure a lot of pilots can deal out a load of damage, but it takes a real cold-blooded soab to make a killshot :P

I know it's pricey but has anyone ever tried the CH Products Fighterstick?

CH Products - Retail Gaming Joysticks

From what I've read its very precise.

Looks like a nice stick, but it doesn't have yaw control that i can tell.

I assume by "yaw" you mean the "twist" functionality (which I use for roll). But that's a question I have, too. In write ups, it claims to have x, y and z axis control -- which I would assume is pitch, yaw and roll ... but I'm trying to get my hands on one to demo with Jumpgate Classic and Jumpgate Evolution.

According to the webpage, the Z axis is actually the throttle, so my guess would be no.

Re: PVP - what dont you like.

D'oh.With all the hat switches you could prolly assign roll-L, roll-R, AB and Brake to a 4-way hat. It would be different. This stick is clearly a flight sim (rather than gaming) stick so the lack of twist would not be surprising -- but I'd still love to give it a thorough shakedown with Jumpgate Classic/E.

Re: PVP - what dont you like.

It has probably been suggest before but FF's should burn AB fuel when they are used (Say 1/4 of your fuel for one FF). Or you could have it where you hold down an FF button much like you do AB but it burns fuel quicker. Either would improve this area of PvP, although I would lean more towards it burning a set percentage of fuel based on # of MODx slots and ship type. BTW.. people still play this game??

Yes these are great ideas.

Looking back, it probably was a mistake to balance all the ships/modx around FF's, rather then fixing the root of the problem, which was really how FFs work.

Maybe in Jumpgate Evolution, we can try giving everyone the same amount of FF (based on fuel usage, as a kinda nitro-boost afterburner like what Deranged suggests) and balance the ships in other ways?
