Bad thing I see about the poll is its inherent message that you will be hunted for sure if the unconsensual system is set in place, which it isnt.

Being a PvE doesnt necesarily mean that you will be shot down, only if your gameplay (RP) clashes with one another, be a good or bad pilot.

Anyways, Im a bad fighter pilot, but I like the non-consensual system.

I'm going to have to disagree with your statement. In fact, I can guarantee you that someone will attempt to shoot you down. They may not be trying to every moment, but they will try.

Regardless, I think everyone here understands the meaning of the poll.

Well if this isn't the hot-button debate of the century for Jumpgate fanatics, I don't know what else would qualify. Let the pie slinging begin!

rofl daslog, you simply amaze me. Just because you can be shot down doesn't mean someone will attempt it. The possibility is there, but that's all it is, a possibility. You can't guarantee that anyone will attempt to shoot anyone down ever. Unless you've miraculously learned to read the minds of thousands upon thousands of people and you know the intentions of everyone who will play Jumpgate Evolution. And that, unfortunately for you, is highly doubtful.

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

There are no guarantees here folks. In the days when I played Jumpgate religiously, the non-consentual aspect of PvP meant that players understood their actions had consiquences. Maybe the game has changed to the point were players feel they can mouth off to anyone they please and hide behind a registry tag, but that's one of the reasons I don't currently play the game to begin with, so that's that. As for the obvious debating to come, try to keep it somewhat civil.

Yes, I can guarantee that in a an open PvP game, as some point, someone will try to shoot you down.

Well, easy poll question for me. I'll only play a MMOG if it has non-consensual PvP.

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

I'm all in for consensual PvP.

I like to choose when I am willing to engage in pvp and when I am not willing. I like options in how I play a game.

I dislike options where complete strangers can dictate how I will be spend my night playing.

A consensual pvp MMO will always trump a Non-consensual pvp MMO to me.

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

The question in this poll isn't "consensual pvp vs non-consensual", it's "limited RP vs non-limited RP". I joined Jumpgate 6 years ago to play the part of a bad guy, because finally there was a game that allowed me to do this. If you take away the bad guys, you take away all the professions and possible RP's that go along with bad guys, such as escorting, police, blockades, bounty hunting, mercenaries, and countless others. You also sabotage the atmosphere of your game.

I dont care how good your AI is, I dont play Jumpgate to fight AI. I play Jumpgate to interact with real people. If all the bad guys are AI... I simply wont play Jumpgate at all, and neither will a lot of your hardcore Jumpgate Classic fans.

Above my post, Montaugh mentions that he likes 'options', but in reality he wants you to take away the RP options of everyone on the server, so that their is only the possibility of being a good guy. If you take away non-consensual PvP, you make everyone into good guys, and that's a very lame formula for a game.

I like options too. I like the ability to pick wether my character is good or evil. I like the ability to hunt bad guys, or be hunted by good guys. I like the RP organizations that made Jumpgate great that would be completely eliminated if non-consensual PvP was removed, such as the EEA, ISU, The Gang, etc.

Trit, I'm pretty sure it says "I want to choose when I can get killed (consensual)" or "I want to be able to kill or be killed at any time (non-consensual)"

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Re: It's not PvE vs PvP it's consensual PvP vs non-consensual PvP

If people had the option of being 100% safe, they will pick that option every time. Hence there would be no possibility for bad guys. Without targets in the form or haulers or miners, what would the pirates target? Themselves? Other PvP'ers in fighter ships?

I'm unsure what scorch is really getting at. Wether it be 'Civ Chips' or 'Safe Zones', it'd be equally bad for RP and the atmosphere of the game.
