Re: The Shift...
IM not sure what your asking.. so... here are 2 answers.
![]() 1.) Since they were having technical difficulties, i came back here. The login issues was fixed fairly quickly on their end.. but then the discussion was already going here. i hate having the same discussion/argument on multiple sites.... easier to keep a topic in one place for the duration of its discussion. 2. I Did bring it up on the official site... just couldn't reply back.. and after all the replys here and there it looked like everyone disagreed with me... at least until the most recent posts. So i was done "discussing" it. Figured either i was wrong or the dev's haven't wanted to totally discuss that info yet. So i wait for more info to be shared. Did i hit the answer in there? |

Re: The Shift...
I hope they do not incorporate Avatars or Pictures for player personifications. I currently just picture everyone else as potential Cross-Hairs in my HUD and I am placated.

Re: The Shift...
Humanity is of Earth origin. If it's of another origin then it's called something else. There is no hint at an Earth origin in Jumpgate.

Re: The Shift...
That page shows it was altered less than a year ago. Anyone have the original page? I don't trust TRI not to change history.
![]() Still, even if it was in the original text of the original page, humanity signifies human and humans come from Earth. So I guess there is some origins roleplay left wide open to be used by the brave hearted role players if they wish. |

Re: The Shift...
I think they use humans to give players a point of reference and a place-point for relation to the world they created. It's a lot simpler storywise if their main "species" is human than if they had to spend countless hours creating new races, with their own specific identies, cultures, features and mannerisms only to never use them in an Avatar role since we're all pretty much, our ships and the setting provided by stations/nationality instead of a humanoid character (like WoW or EnB). Just stating "humanity" as the Jumpgate Evolution site refers to the race now occupying The Core instantly lets people relate to the protagonists they'll be playing.
Doesn't mean you can't roleplay in a fashion seperate from the common "Earth-bound" human species. Just means you've been give a complete species definition in one word. Past that, I'm sure no one will mind if you want to say your pilot has eyes that close vertically and inverted knee-caps and that you rely on Nitrogen instead of Oxygen as your primary respiratory gas. I just wouldn't get too concerned on what ND is stating as there's no real affect either way on the game mechanics (until someone starts asking the GM's for better ships because "their character RP is that they get better stuff for free"). You could RP you're a giant Kangaroo that had a brain transplant and can pilot as good as the next guy and as long as you could pull it off, more power to you ![]() |
