I just noticed on mmorpg.com that Jumpgate Evolution is 3rd best hyped mmo in development.. I know that AOC and WAR are the main reasons for this, cause of the release.. but, could it also be that the WoWkiddies have noticed something similar ? or maybe ND/CM just payed mmorpg to push it up..

Anyway.. also, are you suprised that Jumpgate Evolution has reached 150k beta signups?

I personally am pleasantly suprised about the number of signups. As I thought that the reason CM/ND were almoust nagging people to sign up for beta for I dont even know for how long now, was because they maybe had around 30-40k max.

And last question (to anyone), has number of beta signups in the past made any indication on success of a mmo? I only know of AoC that had over 1million beta signups, but their subscriber number does not come close to half of that now.

interesting, but the proof is in the pudding. of those 150k signups how many are one person with multi email address.

lol.. either way.. 150k signups announced will bring even more curious people. Im guessing around 250k before new year..

Sweet 150k people that want to play a wow clone. Guess what, if they keep up with their current plans, and have the same sort of release/updates as Classic, that number will drop to about 100 after 2 years.

FYI I only signed up once, I do have a connect08 Beta key and I think I will be getting one for haveing a active Jumpgate Classic sub (its been active for ever).

TBO I really dont care if I get in or not. so any one want a beta key or two?

You guys are looking at it all wrong.

Ok, granted, they aren't making your game for you. But *shock* nobody but you will make that game anyway.

if they really get 150K players, we are bound to get a few RP devs. And probably a development _team_ rather than a development coder.. sometimes.

I'm looking forward to the new game. Might be fun. Won't be jumpgate v.1, but might be fun.

I hope they dont go the same route as all other mmo companies and just dump the game on some live team.. but rather expand the team when the money starts comming in. (IF it succeeds)

this is what CCP did with EvE.

Not sure where you are getting this idea from. Eve was a total bust at launch. The publisher sold the rights to publish Eve back to CCP for pennies on the dollar.

and besides.. that publisher had nothing to do with development of EvE..

Publishers usually provide the milestone dates, write the checks, and proivde the testing resources.
