Re: So quiet
It was said on at least one vid interview that the game is still about skill, they mentioned if you shoot and miss a target, thats it, you just missed. It says a lot about you guys worrying, though, it will have 'beginner mode' for people to get used to playing, and 'skilled mode' for all you guys with the great skills, just the new one sounds like you at least have a choice, something the old Jumpgate didnt give anyone. And yes, many people have to admit to not having the great skills, but does that mean they cant play, or have to leave, I think the new game gives everyone a better chance, your choice.

Re: So quiet
"Skill" can mean so many things. Jumpgate will retain its FPS aspect in that you have to aim and shoot. But the skill factor is very-much impacted by things like ship size and profile, hitbox size and weapon damage.
Jumpgate Classic required lots of aiming skill as well as situational awareness flying skill. Let's hope that's not nerfed too much in the name of "accessibility." |

Re: So quiet
I dunno Ambro... Nerf makes some pretty scary guns that take a lot of skill to use.

Re: So quiet
From what i have seen, i dont think nerf is an accurate description of how they have changed any skill requirements in favour of accessability. THat said, bring on the beta so we can experience whats happened since and really know for sure

Re: So quiet
I think what was meant by auto docking was like in classic where there were docking modx. A noob feature that although can be added to any ship no self respecting pilot used them when they learned to dock on their own.
At least this is what I hope it means. |

Re: So quiet
I did not bounce off any in my flight test -- that came from ND in various posts/articles/discussions. The basically said that crashing into something, including roids, would not be auto-death -- and that damage balancing would be done in beta. This would not be nearly so bad as core station docking where you point and fly and bounce your way in without any skill requirement at all. It's freaking horrendous.

Re: So quiet
Hey Ambro:
Just read today that there was a dolby chat mention on one of the interviews and apparently Awen confirmed that its a chat system that allows you to get positional feedback of your teammates (while in same sector), so if they are at your right, you will hear it on the right channel. Seing that the system is 'dolby' might mean that supports 5.1 systems. People are already complaining/observing that a mono option is more desirable so that it feels more 'real', kind of along the lines of BSG, with distortion and all. I liked BSG's mode, but this is not a movie/tvseries, the information we get is vital. Anyways, wanted to let you know because it got my attention. ELP |
