Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
Strange that no one mentioned Jump... not to seem to suck up, but I used the tools he developed at the MACK site, then later on here. He's increased my knowledge and appreciation of the game to a very great extent. I use, or at least read, the forums here almost daily. I don't know that he had a direct affect on the game itself, but certainly on my playstyle and enjoyment of the game.
Nearly all of the previoulsy named pilots had an influence on my game, plus the different pilots in OAS, as well as our enemies, especially the pilots of balrog and THE BORG as they forced changes in my in-game activities and thus deserve mention. All the posters on this thread have affected and effected my game to one extent or another. Some of you are famous in-game, some less so. I've flown with, or against, nearly everyone here at one point or another. I really don't think I could single out "just five". |

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
I'll be honest, I never met Jump until I stumbled upon this site.
Probably cause I didn't play with Mack people cause they were a bunch of freaking carebears ![]() *hides from the hauling consortium* |

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
1) Jumpdemon - His website influenced the game play of many pilots in jumpgate.
2) TexMurphy - His PvP influence the game in more ways than one 3) Ixholla - EEA, had the whole server involved at one point or another 4) Gossip - His website was the hub of activity in the early days of the game 5) Rollio - Everyone new him, and many have either been chased by him, or was chasing him |

So I downed him, and spent the next few weeks playing the "fly for 5 minutes before being spotted and then the next few hours fleeeing" game. It was much fun. |

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
i blaim myself. I should of narrowed down the topic a bit. I was mainly thinking about top 5 people who influenced RP wthin Jumpgate, hence my initial list of 5.
there is a lot of ways to 'influence the game', such as developing the game as Istvan does. Creating kickass tools and websites such as this one, hauling tons of freight so people have equipment, etc. |

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
There have been a lot of great influential players, many mentioned already in this thread. I tried to identify five that really blazed a trail. I had to go to six. My list is US pilots since I flew very little on EU and that was fairly late in the game.
baadf00d -- one of the first pilots to really understand the economy and production dynamics. Gossip -- set the standard for Jumpgate fansites and blazed the trail for 3rd party tools. lxholla -- Creativity, leadership and the ability to managing a a really diverse group in EEA was a unique accomplishment. Ridgeway -- For creating the controversial ISU, and its variety of interesting RPs from the Aman Fashfire blockade to the GBS tolls. Rollio -- there was no one more infamous for making space dangerous. He also was one of the first to really perfect the speed dock. Rostam {{or whichever Nazgul came up with circle fighting}} Honestly, though, five (or six) is too few for this Hall of Fame. You really need 20-25 to do proper recognition (IMO) and include the likes of FellBlade, Fence, Hurricane, InterOrka, Karash, Liet, LupinOne, MadCat, Tesrend, Zaltys and many others. P.S. I do want to make one comment on Sentinels' post to set the record straight. I have tremendous respect and admiration for Tesrend. I think he is probably the best PvP pilot in Jumpgate. But Tez did not create the QDA (Quantar Defense Alliance). Though he was often the leader of QDA battle fleets, the idea for the QDA was spearheaded by spork, who also wrote a pretty eloquent Charter which we used as QDA's RoE. |

he may have coined the idea, but tes was the unifying force/factor. not to take anything away (really) from any other quant/quant squad, but without tes, i don't think the QDA would've been as successful as it was. and i don't really even like the guy! but i do/did respect what he did and with the (some) class he did it with. *pokes tes* |
