Yep, you got the right one. He actually called it the "Magnet" since you kinda orbit them and end up closer than you started.

I have a feeling JADE was a big mistake for us. A ton of pilots joined to learn our PvP techniques and once they picked them up, went back to there own squads or had used 2nd accounts and joined JADE just for that intention, only to ditch those accounts.I'm fairly certain circle fighting wouldn't have become prevalent as fast (don't get me wrong, it would have been/was being figured out by anyone who faced us after a few fights, some figured it out on there own) if JADE hadn't formed. It definately closed the gap in terms of skill between us (Nazgul) and the rest of the server.

I invented donut fighting. Kind of like circle fighting but fat and slow.

I invented the "Jump in first and run around like a little nancy to distract everyone while my buddies slipped in and ganked em from the back"

Sadly I never was much good in a fair fight, so I didn't

Speaking of running....
One time there was a big battle around Quant core. I had never PvP'd before and decided to jump into the fray. I switched to a ranger and headed towards the back of the SOL fleet where Morgan and Ttelephone were in rangers. I headed towards Fleetelelphone and hit him with some barrak fire. He FF's out of the sector. This is when the rangers had size 2 shields.

The SOL fleet is eventually vanquished, but he never came back into sector. I completely understood the fleeeeeeeeeeeee references about him.

huh? In the 2 or so years we played there were no squads or pilots who closed the gap. Well there were a few select players but they just joined us. And then there was Rollio, though his skillset was of a different kind. Only -DSA- was starting to get close with their steadily improving teamwork but they trained by themselves and by fighting against us. With equal numbers there was no squad on either server that could match Nazgul, period.

It's a totally different story now, there are many Nazgul level players now. I doubt we could dominate now like we used to. Also with POS style combat we'd get bored within a week and quit, it's quite gay really.

Tesrend continued our work with Quants after we got tired of massive gank fleets and camping wake all the time. I hear he did good.

And Tritian I'm not sure which JADE you were killing but it wasn't the Nazgul members. We did have a lot of fresh newbies we were training (Tesrend, Rix etc), maybe you got some kills on them. Also there was no Invader back then... Maybe you're confused with some later JADE squad.

I always giggle inside when I read this same thing from people who played 5 years ago with pure PvP pilots. The fact is that many people and groups of people PvP'ed during beta and had a stupidly huge advantage over those that didn't on release. Those people then kicked the bejesus out of noobs and improving noobs while picking up any half decent pilots along the way.
At least there is an acceptance that domination could not be achieved now. The remaining pilots are a world apart in terms of skill from what the old people were used to.

Regards
Al

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic

We came to EU after OV's been a pure pvp squad for like 2 or 3 years and they had no pilots able to challenge us. Yes, including you and Fellblade We were rusty too, came back after like a year long break.

I always giggle at the superior scout tactics and teamwork I hear OV perfected (from OV members lol). Ya having extra 6 pilots in scouts in a battle helps. It was always about having a huge numbers advantage with OV.

As for current pilots being a world apart from us long retired wankers, you are wrong too. They are at old Nazgul level at best now. I'll duel you some time, I bet I can still take you down although surely not as easily as I used to.

Ok, I'll stop hijacking this thread now. My list:
Rollio - undisputed king, half the pvp and economy changes originated with him in one way or another (usually by him exploiting something)
Handsolo - for perfecting laser fighting
Ixholla - EEA
baadF00d - economy insight, farming etc.
Innominate - for size 4 PP on Intensity which killed ship balance for a few years.

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic

Luke, the FM's for the MF's were in at the end of Open Beta. I was fighting JADE beginning of retail when I was a complete n00b, so there were MF's.

I was mainly just trying to get a rise out of JackOften in saying I kicked your ass. For the record, you guys won 10x more fights against me then I did. but I tried despite being outnumbered and all the other sols cowering in the station.

However, I DID kick the shit out of Prophet (Rix) in a duel at SolCore when I was a level 20 Sol in the 'vader. And those WERE the excuses he used. Almost beat Jack afterwards too. Almost. =)
