Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
Wasn't the Ridgeway acct actually started by someone other than "Ridgeway?"

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
I know for sure Ridgeway was MACHINE's original account and then he let a friend fly it for a long time. MACHINE had quite a few accounts too, but I haven't heard from him since I quit, which was summer of '03.

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
Goddamned...you all are fags!!!!
And I mean that in the most respectful way too. Cause I love you all now...let's hug!!!! I won't make a list either, since it's not fair that I can't list everyone, nor that I can actually remember everyone. I mean, I had forgotten Kirlain till someone in this thread mentioned him. Ouch. Was I influential? Doubtful. Though, I did enjoy my times in some great squads. OEC, AQM, ]DEATH[, NOVA, and of course, The Dark Path. Although, Muffy (MajorFreak) did nominate me for some medal for helping him as a newb, which led to our little roid cartography group, and his religious delving into the ins and outs of Jumpgate. Salute! |

Re: Top 5 most influential pilots of Jumpgate Classic
I just thought I'd poke my head in and say hi real quick... It's been a long time and I do think about Jumpgate from time to time and how much fun it all was.
The 5 most influential pilots? God, I wouldn't even be able to scratch the surface with 5.... So, I guess I'd do 5 from each faction and 10 from Quant. My memory is pretty foggy so I will probably forget quite a few names that should be in here. Solrain: Valen - For leading Sol Navy back when everyone on the server was really getting into PvP Hurricane - Always the hauler and was respected by everyone. Rollio - Well, what can I say? I hated this person with all of my being. He picked on lowbies that weren't even in medium fighters with his intensity that he earned in the first 3 days of release. I happened to be one of them. Basically, he was the entire reason I did everything I could to learn the ways of PVP and try to unite Quantar against pilots like him. -DSA- - The entire squad. They had the art of piloting the intensity down to a science and in even numbered matches would be 50/50 against Eye of Roh and typically even when EoR would 'win' they'd still have pilots able to escape where when EoR lost we would have no one left. A lot of passions ran high between the two squads and lots of fighting both in game and in the forums made the rivalry probably one of the worst in the game. Jumpdemon - same as Hurricane Octavians: Liet - Was always scary going into a battle against this guy. He had what I would consider the best aim in the game. sentinels - A pretty decent guy and all-around pilot. No matter what was happening to his faction he kept up to Octavian mentality. Venom - There are just too many good things to say about Venom. Economist, leader, and probably the most dedicated squadmate you could ever ask for. purge - He started off as just another Oct who with time and effort really defined himself as one of the best projectile gun pilots on the server. The leaders of the 2 long lasting oct squads... sad that I can't remember either the leaders names or the oct squad names... its been too long. Quants: Ambrosius, Spork, Singleshot, Rix, Bronx, Arnon, Rockdoctor, Amen-Ra, god... just everyone. I mean, I don't think there was a Quantar in the game that I didn't talk with extensively and I enjoyed their company so much. We created some great stories and really pulled it together when our faction had the smallest population on the entire server. I was proud to see each and every one of them strive to learn the ways of fighting (cause our faction was pretty much forced to do so) and then go out there and give it their all when the call went up. I would like to think that there was a time when we surprised the server with our efforts and that perhaps others were forced to learn from us. -Tesrend |
