The reason I'm posting this here is because it may sway one's decision whether or not to be Quantar, period. I will keep all other squadron posts in the squad forum.

Quantar squad description:
We are Quantar (or former Quan, by classical definition) who have completely set aside the illogical belief in and worship of "Hamalzah", just as the ancients did with primitive idolatry of stone carvings. Spawned from the lesser drop nodes, I mean asteroid fields, our ship designs reflect the very fluid manner by which the infinite, unified field of existence, itself, courses through us ("skein" if you like) -- the recognition of which fails our adversaries! Sisters & brothers, we are apertures through which the universe observes and balances itself! Join us, be well received, laugh a little, and don't RP so much you sell your soul. Metaphysics and philosophy are more than welcome, but Quan ships are bizarre & majestic without over-the-top Providence.
Stop by, especially if you're considering becoming a recruit. While there are a lot of pretty hard-core squads out there when it comes to guild site participation, we've got our eye on you whether you're dead-set on putting in lots of time with us or not. Two of our primary goals are to make you feel welcome even if you're scared to join a squad because you're pretty attached to your alone-time and still consider being a bit non-committal, and also to give you a place if you've read other guild descriptions that lost you on the word "Hamalzah". I know of at least one or two other squads that take orthodox Quantar ravings with a grain of salt, but ours specifically caters to thinking it doesn't really have a place in our gameplay at all, or even the way we'd like to semi-roleplay our identities on our site. I've seen the deity issue sway people away from being Quantar, whereas a bit of the more generally spiritual (or even monkish), skein-tapping, powerful-minded traits had almost attracted them to this relatively clerical side. Don't kick the "smart race", plus the coolest-looking ships and bases to the curb over an insignificant idiosyncrasy that you need not embrace to have an entire group of like-minded peers in your corner.
Now, if you are gung-ho about committing much more of yourself to squad participation, both in-game and on the Heretics of Dawn forums, then by all means apply and stick around, as well! In this case, it's likely you'll rise to the top and lead.
Jumpgate Evolution creators can be quoted as looking forward to some of the PvP and instance battles resembling scenes from Star Wars.
Indeed, even the basic "I've got you in my reticle, pew pew pew," player skill-based foundation of Jumpgate can be compared to X-Wing and TIE Fighter, or even the original Atari Star Wars arcade booth, not to date myself.
To me, the more adept Quan are the Jedi of this game, a.k.a. skein = The Force, except Jedi bent their knee to no god.
We also welcome Jumpgate Classic players, as well! We train there.

The other thing I'd like to point out is that we don't have a giant chip on our shoulders about "cross-realming". In other words, if you'd like to be Solrain or Octavian, but have an alt as a Quan, you're still welcome. All we ask is you don't blatantly use it directly against us.

Yeah, I hear you, hehe. But the stuff like "Nonbelievers must die" sigs started sounding a little too jihad for me, etc.
And you can't hardly run across a Quan guild or race description on the officials including "Hamalzah" [gezhundheit... or "bless you"(what a conundrum!)] without it turning into a clusterhump about organized religion in RL.
I'm to blame, myself, look what I just said in my first sentence, LOL!
I just like the ships, and I think a lot of people new to the game might tend to import sentiments of Intelligence & Mysticism from other games, without wanting to take the Nestea Plunge into worship of diety. I do totally see your point. It's traditional and fun for many. There's still The Brotherhood of Stone, The Jade Temple, and others. I doubt we'll get all that many "followers" in the scheme of many thousands of players with different goals, but we offer a few folks an "out" without being all the way out. We're still pretty "way out" and believe personal identity is an illusion, and that we are not truly all separate entities imprisoned in bags of skin, destined to be completely extinguished and thus inevitably screwed by death. The skein, indeed, flows thru our souls, out our fingertips, and into the X52's which are extensions of our being... and all that rot.

(Little joke about ourselves being wishy-washy, but I think it can be seen here and there we're not overall, and genuinely still intend to concentrate a certain breed into the aptly-themed squad for that type)

You guys do rock and you never know (maybe at some point I'll show up at your temple airlock with a few stragglers wanting to be merged into JT), but I was really just being silly over here in a moment of temporary space-madness; things have actually started looking pretty good at this point.

Thanks for bearing with me on that probably controversial joke. I've been taking the liberty in these last two posts of letting down my defenses a bit and loosening up -- that's how JSR makes me feel: able to get silly and have a good time. Our recruitment thread on the officials centers more around properly expressing our mission statement and what-have-you, but the above gag is precisely the way I'd like to keep from being too uptight, to some degree even over at the Heretics site or on Vent, within reason (without damaging our intents and purposes). Anyone who craps solid rock enough that that joke would offend them would probably be in for a disappointment were they to join, anyway, so... I've gotta be all facets of "me" sometime or another (by the time you wrap me up into one, full package), whether it's immaculately appropriate 100% of the time or not, I think. Otherwise I'd burn out.
