Automatic bounties placed by killing AI defenders or peaceful members of another faction should also be created and paid for by the faction, but these should be relatively low paying bounties to avoid abuse.
  1. Bounty Interface
    1. A bounty board system to set player/squad-created bounties on people/squads
    2. Terms for how the bounty will be collected (# of deaths, min # of cash loss, etc)
    3. A listing of all current pilots w/ bounties placed on them for bounty hunters, and possibly the last TRI station they visited.
  2. HUD Elements
    1. Bounty indicator when targetting someone
    2. Maybe a 'beep' sound for when a bountied pilot enters the sector?
  3. Behind the Scenes
    1. Upon completion of bounty, funds will be transfered automatically from the initiator to the bounty hunter
So a bounty could be placed on a peep for no reason at all.. lol that is so cool, i have to clap...

some quests for the pvers to unreg to retrive a medel, might see pver gank teams to get that shiney. I think i rember some mobs in the past. I like mining in gatways..

Maybe a BCU for unreg peeps. That might include pirates. Maybe the squads that control unreg stations get the bcu so pirates can flip their space.

  4. Military

  6. Unknown (or blank, for those that dont want to advertise what they do)
This idea I can accept. My biggest issue with going no tagged is that with thousands of pilots, there would be no way possible to keep track of who are the people who would be 'out to get me'. Having some symbol of their general intentions is going to be a requirement imo.

The thing with a wild west theme is what happened to the real wild west?

It was tamed.

Tamed so that more people could exist there. Same goes for space. A wild west space will appeal to some, the brave, the daring and the foolish but for a BIG populace it will need to be tamed, ordered and regulated.

And that leads us back to....

I submit that its not that the west was tamed. But how the west was tamed that maters in the game. If theres no west to begin with its a mute point.

I think it can be tamed without exotic game machinics. I think the battles between foes can be the place to be. I think some pvers will be drawn into the excitment. It will probably be the only place in the game where players actualy influence any part of the game. Somthing won, and somthing lost.

Enviroments can change to influence game events, you know, the played out gold mine, a new marshall in town. If the game gets static, its two peoples fault. the players, and the game moderators.

Some of the strictest rules of society are in closed enviroments. Prisions, fundamenalists, basicaly if you wrong me you pay. shoot off your mouth you pay. burn my rock you pay. Dont show up for a duel your labled. Like my granddad told me long time ago. Wining or losing is not important, but you better damn well stand up.

Most of the existing Clasic players know each other, complete with past transgressions, perceptions, grudges. So it will take a while to stake out territories, form alliances. But it needs to be done, i realy feel that gangs of hundreds of pvers will invade the pvp server, instance, shard. That is probably one thing we can count on. So i dont think the pvers need anymore help. And once pvers get into the pvp world do you think they will show any mercy? They will burn and pillage everything in sight. Slaughter our miners, haulers. O the horror... lol.

Absolutely Needed. Getting sucked into days of being tagged blows for the people who can only play short amounts of time.

I would like to see some sort of indication of the pilot's intentions. Like if they have killed you, they are tagged a certain way on radar. If someone is shooting at you they tag, stuff like that

Re: Wild-West style hardcore PvP server ideas

It seems I saw a post or a comment somewhere suggesting that Jumpgate Evolution would have a HG-type system (but perhaps that was just a misnomer for MT).

I recall that too, he said that tags still worked the same way but only because they hadn't had a chance to change them yet....or something like that...I can't remember where though and I just looked through the Massively and MMORPG chats. Must be a post on the forum.

There are so many interviews now it's hard to back track and find anything sometimes. You can use the devtracker here to find posts though.

Word, good work jump. I found it.

You can find Scorch's post that says it HERE.

Re: Wild-West style hardcore PvP server ideas

Always grab the permalink or the post number link not the one in your browser. You may be showing different posts per page than others and the page number will be meaningless and break the link for some.
