rofl, aren't you one of the people who said that people who still play the game should have more say in how Jumpgate Evolution turns out because you still play the game? |

The meaningful PvP in that situation was against combat pilots who opposed the FM RP. They got a chance to take an RP position. Unfortunately, we were unable to do so because of the moronic bounty system. A good example of non-meaningful PvP is raiding Quant space every night, for no good reason except you've done it every night for the past 6 months. |

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?
There was more civ'ing in beta and early release, and more people quit because of this in beta and early release. Yes there was self policing, but if you were not in a squad or had good friends you just had to accept it.
We started with huge numbers online and it wasn't seen as a big deal until numbers became lower, when the community became closer knit. There were obviously people that became notorious who were "self policed" more quickly, but many people just had to take being ripped. I've been on both sides of the fense. OV's approach back then was imo too militant in nature. I did not always agree with Fellblade's "take no crap zero policy" as it meant many got ripped for things which I thought could have been dealt with in other ways. It was a different game back then though. I think it is unfair to the rest of the people reading this forum who did not play back then to suggest it was all roses as there was self policing in practise. Yes it did work to an extent, but with a game in early release more played and more new players joined constantly. If you think it was a perfect situation back then you are putting your heads in the sand. Regards Al |

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?
Squads like LAWNMOWER definitely got self policed. Yep. Totally.
In a setup where there is unlimited money, lots of equipment, and maybe even POS, fighting a person/group that likes to fight totally amounts to "policing". ![]() |

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?
I was just speaking to my bro(Mikgore) who made a good point. He mentioned that if you remove the ablility to civ rip then you remove the need for diplomacy.
Tags make some feel safe, but in many ways this is the point for various reasons. One being that they think being civ they can safely pass on intel and, if they are found out believe they should be immune from being blown up. Diplomatics. Regards Al |

I also don't think its fair to characterise peoples views as wanting the game to be their way and not the "best" way. ND will make a game that servers their interests. Scorch has said that the game will be in tune with what his original concept was with a lot more eye candy and smarts than he was able to put into it the first time round. The only other driver will be revenue. The game need to appeal to a larger playerbase than 500 to be profitable in the long run. IMO the game will be as good as i gets when it comes to space combat sims and have more than enough in it for the PvP and PvE crowds to be happy about. |
