Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?

Remove The Registry Tag System

Ok, so we have figured out that we have 300 responses to the thread....a lot of stuff was thrown around. But lets just get a good feeling for how people would react....

If ND removed the Tag system, and based everything on community policing, would you sign up?

I have no problem with removing tags once the new "Singleplayer" (invulnerable) shield is added to the game.

Maybe I'd play..maybe I wouldn't.. I dunno. I'd definatly play for a bit just to see how community policing will work, or not work.

Please don't choose the option to display who voted without disclosing that fact.

And since I don't know how certain people feel about their votes being known publicly I have deleted all reference to them.

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?

I vote no.

Tag or no tag system PvE players need a seperate invironment from PvP players. The 2 cannot intermingle. Games that allow the 2 to mix historicly are doomed from the getgo.

When PvP players are allowed to attack PvE players, the PvE players are more inclined to cancel there accounts and not come back than they are to "just deal with it and like it". I realy hate playing games knowing at any moment another player can just sneek up on me or snipe me from a distance and give me a death penalty, loss of equipment, and a long run back to where I was doing whatever it was I was doing then get blasted again. OK, the guy gets a bounty or some other social penalty but it's nothing compared to the anger, loss and inconvenience delt to me. I will not pay money for this kind of game play.

When I play PvP I fully expect to play with and against other PvPers not with and against PvEers. I don't expect a PvEer to sudenly change there status and blast me when I least expect it. I will not pay money for this kind of game play.

No one in there right minds would.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the current system I voted to keep tags. There needs to be some mechanic outside of self-policing to prevent griefing.

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?

I have changed the template so that any public polls in the future will be quite obvious. Apologies to those that may have voted and not seen the tiny warning. My fault, we don't get many polls.

Start a new thread and define "griefing"

Having tags hurts RP for the sake of people who think it is griefing.

Just because you die, doesnt mean you were griefed.

I believe the current definition of "Griefing" is when someone shoots at you.

(sadly)

Re: Would you play if Jumpgate had no Registry Tags?

i would play if it had or not.

If it did or did not have tags, there would be some other system.

But a Jumpgate without any coded system to protect the weak will never work. that would basically be anarchy, and self policing anarchy doesn't work in a fair way for everyone.

Jumpgate universe should be guarded by laws not by men.
